ATCS is looking for a qualified Senior Bridge Engineer to join our Structural Engineering practice. This role will report out of our Timonium, MD office where we offer a flexible, hybrid environment. The position will involve performing simple and complex analysis, design, and documentation of various transportation structures, emphasizing single and multi-span bridges, culverts, retaining walls, foundations, sign structures, and ITS structures.
The role works closely with our Director of Structural Engineering to expand this discipline company wide as a technical leader, coordinating overall design activities, project submission schedules, and responsible for additional QA/QC duties to ensure final products meet clients' technical requirements and goals.
- Performs and checks design calculations, prepares technical specifications, prepares cost estimates and other construction documents, and successfully delivers projects to completion
- Conducts assessments and evaluations of existing structures
- Develops solutions to challenges presented by the client within budget and schedule
- Issues reports, schedules, and estimates of probable costs
- Assists with responses to SOIs, RFPs and other pursuits
- Assists with developing budgets and scopes of work
- Performs peer reviews and expert reporting
- Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
- Valid Professional Engineering Licensure (P.E.) in Maryland
- Minimum of 8+ years of project engineering experience
- Well versed in MDTA and SHA standards, procedures, and specifications
- Extensive experience with layout & design of bridges and related highway structures
- Familiarity with rehabilitation of existing bridges and other highway structures
- Valid multi-State Professional Engineering Licensure (P.E.) in MD, with licenses in surrounding states such as VA, PA, NC, SC and/or NY considered a plus
- Familiarity with design and analysis using various materials including steel, precast and cast-in-place concrete; prestressed and post-tensioned concrete; and timber
- Possesses knowledge of MDTA design software
- Possesses knowledge/understanding of finite element and 2D/3D modeling program(s)
- Ability to work independently and as part of a project team
- Ability to understand complex problems and collaborate with others to explore alternative solutions
- Comfortable performing in an environment that requires independent evaluation, judgment, and decision making
- Proficient with Micro Station and Open Roads
For this position, we offer a competitive salary range of $88,000 to $132,000 per year, commensurate with experience and qualifications. The role is also eligible for an annual bonus, with a target 2% of the employee's annualized salary.
