Fields & Associates, Inc. is an established Civil Engineering and Land Surveying firm specializing in engineering design, land development, and project management on a variety of construction projects in Northern Virginia, the District of Columbia, and Maryland for over 35 years. Thanks to our growth, we are seeking a highly motivated Senior Project Engineer at our office in Alexandria, Virginia.

Responsibilities- Leading complex land development projects from initial concept through construction closeout, providing strategic oversight and ensuring delivery of high‑quality, cost‑effective solutions.
- Working within a team of professionals in developing engineered site/grading plans and specifications for a multitude of residential, commercial, industrial, and institutional projects.
- Utilizing technical skills in stormwater management, hydraulics, hydrological analysis, earthwork evaluations, grading and other site development related skills to assist with the preparation of subdivision, site, and infrastructure design.
- Managing large‑scale project portfolios, overseeing contract negotiations, and directing multi‑disciplinary teams while serving as the primary liaison with clients, stakeholders, and regulatory agencies.
- Providing technical expertise in site design, permitting, and construction coordination, while also mentoring project staff and fostering client relationships to support long‑term business growth.
- Ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in alignment with organizational and client goals.
- Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or Equivalent.
- 10+ years of extensive experience in civil engineering and land development, with at least 5 years in project management within the VA|DC|MD market.
- Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) required.
- Excellent working knowledge of Windows Explorer, Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
- Core competencies including: critical thinking and decision making; ability to prioritize and multi‑task with respect to projects; conformity to CAD standards; ability to meet job requirements/requests to achieve deadlines; strong attention to detail while maintaining consistent workflow; willingness/ability to expand knowledge of CAD and design abilities through training; willingness/ability to assume increased responsibilities; ability to work as a team player and interact well with others;
strong organizational skills. - Strong knowledge of zoning ordinances, permitting processes, and regulatory requirements at local, state, and federal levels.
- Business development experience, including preparing proposals, negotiating contracts, and cultivating long‑term client relationships.
- Ability to mentor and develop junior staff, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and technical excellence.
- Professional demeanor and capacity to represent the firm with all clientele, public officials, and the public at large.
