Structural Engineer, Civil Engineering
You’re a structural engineer who wants more than just pushing calculations across a desk. You want to see the buildings, touch the steel, crawl the spaces, and own the design.
This role puts you in the middle of building investigations and structural design work, from field inspections through drawings, specs, and construction administration.
You won’t be a drafting robot. You’ll be a go‑to structural problem solver.
If you’ve cut your teeth on structural design and investigations and want a place to sharpen your skills fast, we want to talk to you.
What You'll Work OnYou’ll support a structural group focused on real‑world building performance and design:
- Building‑related structural investigations
- Structural modeling, analysis, and calculations
- Contract drawing and specification packages
- Construction cost estimating for structural scopes
- Shop drawing reviews and coordination
- Construction administration for structural work
- Project documentation and record‑keeping
- Internal and external client communication
You’ll put tools like mainstream structural analysis/design programs (such as Tedds/Tekla Structural Designer), plus REVIT and AutoCAD, to work alongside your knowledge of IBC Codes.
This is where your software skills and field instincts come together to make safer, smarter structures.
What You'll Be Doing- Performing field inspections of building structures and conditions
- Completing structural calculations, modeling, and analysis for building projects
- Preparing contract drawings and structural detail sheets
- Developing project specifications and calculation packages
- Estimating and preparing construction cost estimates for structural work
- Reviewing structural shop drawings for conformance and constructability
- Carrying out construction administration duties for structural projects
- Maintaining organized and complete project records
- Handling day‑to‑day project administration tasks
- Communicating clearly with internal team members and external clients
- Managing your workload with strong organization and attention to detail
- Performing occasional elevated/aerial, ladder, crawlspace, and attic work during inspections
- Bachelor’s degree in civil, structural, or architectural engineering with a structural focus
- Master’s degree with an emphasis in structural engineering preferred
- FE/EIT certification and a desire to obtain Professional Engineer licensure
- 3–4 years of experience in building‑related investigation and structural design
- Experience with one or more mainstream structural analysis/design programs such as Tedds or Tekla Structural Designer
- Proficiency with REVIT and AutoCAD
- Working knowledge of IBC Codes
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Good organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and as part of a project team with genuine initiative
You’re the engineer who can walk a site in the morning and be deep in calculations that afternoon, connecting what you saw in the field to what you design on screen. You’re comfortable in boots on a scaffold and at a workstation in Tekla or Tedds.
You’ve used REVIT and AutoCAD enough that producing clean, buildable drawings and details feels natural, and you’ve already had exposure to specifications, shop drawings, and construction administration—not just pure analysis.
Why This Opportunity? This is a chance to build a deep portfolio of building investigations and structural designs early in your career, instead of being tucked away on one tiny slice of a mega‑project.
You’ll touch the full project cycle: inspections, analysis, drawings, specs, estimates, shop drawings, and construction administration—giving you the kind of experience that…
