Associate Director, Tax Research and Planning
Join KPMG US as an Associate Director, Tax Research and Planning to work within the Firm Tax team. We provide audit, tax, and advisory services for organizations across today’s most important industries and are known for fostering a culture that encourages individual development and embraces an inclusive environment.
Responsibilities- Conduct thorough tax research and analysis related to the preparation of individual federal and state tax returns and partnership schedule K-1s to support Partner Tax Services and Partner Tax Matters group in the preparation of federal and state tax returns.
- Proactively monitor federal and state legislative developments; model the potential impact of proposed tax changes and identify strategic tax‑saving opportunities for the firm and its partners.
- Document tax research positions and collaborate with firm experts on various federal and state issues to ensure compliance with all tax regulations and deadlines.
- Effectively communicate tax technical positions to members of cross‑functional groups within Firm Taxes.
- Respond to inquiries from tax authorities to resolve tax issues efficiently.
- Act with integrity, professionalism, and personal responsibility to uphold KPMG's respectful and courteous work environment.
- Minimum seven years of recent federal and state individual tax experience with in‑depth knowledge of partnership federal and state schedule K‑1s.
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in accounting or finance is required; master's degree in tax or accounting is preferred. Enrolled Agent or CPA preferred.
- High net worth individual tax experience preferred.
- Proficient in tax research software such as Westlaw, Bloomberg, and CCH.
- Computer proficiencies in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, and Word required;
Excel skills include creating spreadsheets, using shortcuts, formula functions, sorting/filtering data, and analyzing data;
PowerPoint skills include creating charts, layouts and analysis to support tax planning opportunities. - Detail‑oriented and collaborative‑minded professional with a proactive approach to problem‑solving.
