JOB SUMMARYThe National Aquarium is seeking a Financial Analyst to support the annual planning process and quarterly forecasts, manage long‑term capital planning updates, and prepare and analyze financial reports to provide actionable insights to the VP of Finance & Capital Planning, COFO, CEO, and other key stakeholders on the Aquarium’s financial performance.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES- Support annual budgeting and forecasting processes; partner with department and team leaders to facilitate operating budgets and forecasts.
- Provide support to organizational and departmental budget development, submission, maintenance, monitoring, and revision.
- Report and analyze financial activity (revenue/expense) to identify potential risks and opportunities.
- Support long‑term financial planning through scenario modeling.
- Conduct ad hoc financial analyses and research to support leadership decision‑making.
- Manage and maintain the 10‑year capital list, including updates, reconciliations, and reporting, in coordination with the VP of Finance & Capital Planning.
- Provide financial tracking and reporting support for capital construction projects, including monitoring budgets, timelines and expenditures.
- Assist in tracking funding sources and capital financing strategies.
- Prepare, review, and facilitate financial and budgetary reports and presentations for leadership, the Board, and committees.
- Coordinate supporting materials, analysis, and presentations to ensure clarity and accuracy.
- Represent the Finance team by partnering with department leaders and managers to provide support relative to the operating and capital budgets.
- Proactively communicate and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to analyze information needs and functional requirements.
- Assist the VP of Finance & Capital Planning with administrative tasks, including scheduling, meeting preparation, note‑taking, and follow‑up on action items.
- Support document management, contract tracking, and the maintenance of organized financial and project files.
- Coordinate deadlines, reminders, and deliverables related to capital planning and finance activities.
- Support company mission.
- Adhere to all organizational and departmental policies and procedures.
- Other duties as assigned or required.
- Bachelor’s degree in business management, finance, or accounting.
- 5‑8 years of experience in business/financial analytics, and/or budget management, providing leadership and guidance to executives.
- Experience with a not‑for‑profit organization is preferred.
- Exceptional customer service, communication, organizational, and time‑management skills.
- Demonstrated capacity to use tools (such as Excel) to digest financial data and present to stakeholders.
- Experience with software solutions, such as Sage Intacct, Workday Adaptive Planning, and Office Connect.
- High degree of initiative and the ability to be self‑motivated.
- Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment.

Salary range: $58,660‑71,399 Annual.
National Aquarium provides an excellent benefits package, including four weeks paid time off, and six paid floating holidays and up to four weeks of paid family leave. Employees are eligible for health care (single and family) after 30 days of full‑time work. Conservation day leave and 401(k) plan with employer match available.
