THE OPPORTUNITY:

Heyoka Fire Corp is a sanctuary housing organization dedicated to restorative, trauma‑informed care for veterans and underserved communities. We are currently in our founding phase, preparing to structure an endowment that will ensure our mission outlasts its founders.
We are seeking a Treasurer who is not just a bookkeeper, but an Endowment Architect
.
You will work directly with the Founder/Chair to establish the financial bedrock of the organization. This is a rare opportunity to build a nonprofit’s financial governance from the ground up, ensuring that "Sanctuary" is backed by sustainability.
THE ROLE:GOVERNANCE & STRATEGY
As Treasurer, you will Chair the Finance & Investment Committee. You will hold the "Keys to the Sanctuary," ensuring that our assets are protected and our growth is prudent.
Key Responsibilities- Endowment Structuring:
Lead the drafting of the Investment Policy Statement (IPS) in compliance with UPMIFA (Uniform Prudent Management of Institutional Funds Act). - Financial Oversight:
Review monthly financial reports and present quarterly "Financial Health" snapshots to the Board. - Compliance:
Oversee the selection of an auditor and ensure the timely filing of IRS Form 990. - The "No" Vote:
Serve as the financial conscience of the Board, ensuring that operational dreams never outpace financial reality.
We are looking for a partner who balances technical expertise with deep respect for our trauma‑informed mission.
Required Qualifications- Professional Background: CPA, CFO, Investment Banker, or Wealth Management professional.
- Governance
Experience:
Prior experience serving on a nonprofit board or finance committee is highly preferred. - Technical Knowledge:
Familiarity with Restricted Fund Accounting and Endowment Management.
- You understand that "Trauma-Informed" means moving at the speed of trust.
- You are willing to enforce boundaries (fiscal health) to protect the mission.
- You view financial stewardship as a form of care.
