SALARY RANGE: $64,416.00 - $ annually
The Baltimore Police Department (BPD) seeks a dedicated civilian to serve as a Baltimore City Police Officer. Ideal candidates are committed to public service, constitutional policing, and making a positive impact on Baltimore communities; are people of integrity, and possess strong communication skills.
Responsibilities- Patrol a neighborhood by vehicle or on foot.
- Work rotating shifts including evening, weekends, and holiday hours.
- Respond to emergency and non‑emergency calls for service.
- Promote the safety of the public and fellow police officers.
- Engage in community‑oriented policing, traffic enforcement, and special details as needed.
- Meet all administrative and training requirements.
- Assist in maintaining composure in high‑stress situations.
- Mediate and de‑escalate interpersonal conflict.
- Make split‑second decisions.
- Problem‑solve complex scenarios.
- Constitutional policing for the 21st century.

- National Testing Network (NTN) "Frontline National" test.
- Physical agility test.

The online application determines eligibility to take the NTN Frontline National test, which is free for all applicants.
Minimum Qualifications- United States citizen or permanent legal resident who is an honorably discharged veteran of the United States Armed Forces and has a pending application for U.S. citizenship.
- Valid driver's license with no more than 3 points.
- Minimum of 20 years and 9 months of age at the start of the academy.
- High school diploma or GED certified by the State Board of Education.
- No current court orders relating to domestic violence.
- No dishonorable military discharge.
- No felony or serious misdemeanor convictions; misdemeanors must be expunged.
- No DUI arrest within the past 5 years (60 months).
- Eligible candidates under final consideration will authorize release of criminal conviction information and submit to drug testing.
- All driver's license details must be recorded and verified; provisional licenses and learner’s permits are not acceptable.
Probation
:
After completing Police Academy training and graduating, officers are assigned to foot patrol and start a one‑year probationary evaluation period.
