LOCATION OF POSITION
STATEWIDE

POSITION DUTIES
The primary purpose of this position is to enhance public safety within Maryland communities through the proactive monitoring of supervised individuals. This role encompasses several key responsibilities, including investigating and reporting on the status and activities of supervised individuals, conducting testing and referrals to ensure compliance and support rehabilitation, and partnering with community resources to facilitate successful reintegration. Furthermore, the position involves supporting victims of crime and ensuring the proper collection of court-ordered payments.
Key Responsibilities:
• Communicates with supervised individuals and others in person, by telephone, or through written correspondence, primarily utilizing motivational interviewing techniques throughout the supervision period.
• Assess supervised individual risk, stages of change, and criminogenic needs to outline strategies, interventions, sanctions, incentives, services, and available resources that support successful outcomes.
• All contacts are made in accordance with agency policies and employ evidence-based strategies.
• The monitor uses tools, training, and experience to ensure compliance with conditions of supervision and/or maintain the supervised individual in the community, thereby minimizing risk to public safety; this work specifically includes Interstate Compact Offender Tracking System (ICOTS) and monitoring interlock device compliance.
• Participates in training programs required by the Maryland Police and Correctional Training Commissions to maintain Monitor Certification.
• Creates and maintains an official record to document case activity when monitoring supervised individuals by following Agency policies and procedures and utilizing available technology.
• Produces documents to communicate case information regarding supervised individuals’ compliance, to the Courts, MVA or related agencies and to recommend appropriate action.
• Attends hearings in various Courts throughout the State in order to visually identify supervised individuals and to testify from official records regarding offenders being monitored.
• Provides testimony in support of specific recommendations resulting from observations and investigations of offenders' conduct.
• Ensures compliance with conditions of probation to maintain the offender in the community with minimal risk to the public by applying Agency
