Department of Radiation Oncology and Molecular Radiation Sciences

The Department of Radiation Oncology and Molecular Sciences at Johns Hopkins University is seeking highly motivated faculty at Assistant or Associate Professor level to provide specialized skills to meet the technical requirements of radiation therapy, conduct research, and contribute to teaching in associated education programs. The successful candidate will report to the Chief of Medical Physics Division and will be responsible for supporting all aspects of medical physics duties, including radiation protection, simulation, treatment planning, and machine and patient-specific quality assurance.

Candidates with strong communication and collaboration skills are desired. Candidates should be willing to participate in developmental projects that align with the programmatic goals of the department.

The current position will be based at the Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, MD. Facility and Equipment:
Johns Hopkins Medicine upholds a tripartite mission of patient care, research, and education. With a commitment to excellence, our department offers comprehensive radiation treatment services across five campuses in the Baltimore and Washington D.C. regions, including the Proton Therapy Treatment Center of Johns Hopkins at Sibley Memorial Hospital. The physics division currently includes 19 faculty physicists, 9 staff physicists, as well as dosimetrists and other staff.

Our extensive infrastructure includes nine Elekta linear accelerators, a Cyber Knife, two MR simulators, and multiple CT simulators throughout the system. At the proton center, we have three rotating gantries for clinical use and a fixed beam room dedicated to research. We provide a comprehensive range of clinical services at various Johns Hopkins facilities, encompassing intensity-modulated radiation therapy, image-guided radiation therapy, stereotactic body radiation therapy, LINAC-based and Cyber Knife stereotactic radiosurgery, HDR and LDR brachytherapy, as well as radiopharmaceutical therapy.

Treatment planning is conducted using the enterprise-wide Raystation treatment planning system. Our treatment management system, MOSAIQ, is implemented enterprise-wide, facilitating seamless collaboration through a shared database.

Qualifications

Ph.D. Degree in Medical Physics or related fields. Board certification by the American Board of Radiology, the American College of Physicians in Medicine, Canadian College of Physicists in Medicine, or other relevant medical physics boards, or eligible for board certification.

Preferred Qualifications:

Research and educational experience in a university-based hospital is highly desirable.

The referenced salary range represents the minimum and maximum salaries for this position and is based on Johns Hopkins University's good faith belief at the time of posting. Not all candidates will be eligible for the upper end of the salary range. The actual compensation offered to the selected candidate may vary and will ultimately depend on multiple factors, which may include the successful candidate's geographic location, skills, work experience, internal equity, market conditions, education/training and other factors, as reasonably determined by the University.
