Radiology Technologist – Med Star Health Urgent Care

Med Star Health is looking for a Radiology Technologist to join our Med Star Health Urgent Care team! As a Radiology Technologist, you will perform clinical and administrative duties in the Med Star Health setting consistent with policies and procedures. You will work under the supervision of a physician and perform patient intake, standing orders or protocols, venipuncture, laboratory testing, patient follow‑up, and administration of oral, IM, SC, or intradermal medications when ordered by a provider, after demonstrating competency to the Clinical Professional Development Specialist or designee.
Clinical Care Specialists certified as Radiologic Technologists also perform and transmit X‑ray diagnostic images. This position documents in the medical record and supports optimal patient flow.
- Float to other sites/locations within the system to perform all duties at multiple entities.
- Adhere to Med Star Health Code of Conduct, compliance, and governmental and accreditation guidelines. Complete all scheduled training including safety, infection control, OSHA, CPR, EMR, general compliance, harassment, and service. Clean, stock, sterilize equipment and prepare patient rooms. Deliver patient care consistent with policy and with high regard for patient/employee safety and quality of care.
- Embrace new technology and use the electronic health record. Manage patient flow with consistent and frequent communication with patients/family and genuine regard for their time and comfort. Perform other testing and care consistent with the scope of the Med Star Health practices including spirometry/PFTs, patient vitals and BMI, EKGs, vision and hearing tests, splinting, and general patient care under the supervision of the medical provider.
Perform patient follow‑up calls for lab tests, patient experience, and clinical results in accordance with policy and in a professional manner. - Perform venipuncture and selected patient and laboratory testing (point of care); initiate care pathways in accordance with policy. Perform x‑rays in accordance with medical provider orders; forward images to the appropriate radiologist for overreads; maintain x‑ray equipment and adhere to safety standards. Promote an atmosphere of respect toward patients, families, vendors, employers, and co‑workers. Communicate professionally.
- Provide care consistent with Med Star's mission, vision, and values and in a manner that engenders patient confidence and loyalty by exceeding expectations. Serve as a patient escort throughout the care process and assist in patient discharge, ensuring clarity for the patient or family member(s). Support new clinical and service initiatives; seek opportunities to improve care and the patient experience.
- Support other members of the team during downtime or bottlenecks in patient processing. Understand and participate in basic computer and patient intake skills at the front desk. Support the medical provider in patient examination, testing, and education.
- Associate degree.
- Completion of an approved R.T. program.
- Externship in a medical or ambulatory health setting.
- 2 years of medical office experience preferred.
- ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technology) Certification.
- Maryland, Virginia, or DC state license.
- BLS (Basic Life Support).
This position has a hiring range of USD $29.15 – $51.68 per hour.
