Position: Pharmacy Technician PRN (As Needed)

Pharmacy Technician PRN (As Needed)

Children's National Hospital invites applications for the Pharmacy Technician PRN (As Needed) role. The position supports pharmacists with technical and supportive functions, trains new technicians, maintains relationships with the healthcare team, coordinates responses and resolutions with appropriate parties, and performs all tasks in a timely, safe manner consistent with hospital policies, procedures, and state and federal laws.

Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED (Required)
  • Associate's Degree in a science-related field and 1 year of hospital pharmacy technician experience (Preferred)
  • 2 years hospital experience (Preferred)

  • Fluent read/write/speak English
  • Strong time management and organizational skills
  • Excellent communication, oral and written
Required Licenses & Certifications
  • Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) registered in District of Columbia (Required)
Functional Accountabilities Order Processing
  • Accurate data entry skills
  • Fluent read/write/speak English
  • Experienced in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
  • Fill, sort and deliver medication orders timely and efficiently
  • Mathematical calculations in all units of measure (whole numbers, fractions, decimals, rate, ratio, percent)
  • Strong time management and organizational skills

Inventory Control
  • Responsible for inventory control
  • Communicate effectively with pharmacy purchaser about low stock items needing order
  • Perform monthly unit and section inspections to identify expired and soon-to-expire medication
  • Maintain records of controlled substance orders, receipts and disposition
  • Maintain pyxis medication levels and accuracy of medication placement
Purchasing & Invoicing
  • Coordinate purchasing of drugs and related items, note receipt of product, process invoices and assure payment through system
Customer Service
  • Excellent communication skills, oral and written
  • Effectively present information to patient and in small group situations
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals
  • Anticipate and respond to customers needs; follow up until needs are met
  • Strong interpersonal and people skills
