Responsibilities

This position is responsible for the processing Medicaid refunds, billing process, which includes the review and preparation of all hospital claims. Ensures the hospital bills a clean claim to the correct third party payor so that the turn around time for payment is minimal and a positive cash flow is maintained for the hospital. Performs follow‑up until a payment or rejection is received.

Working in conjunction with other finance departments, displaying initiative, efficiency and correcting problems so that all customer expectations are met.

Work Experience:

  • Must possess a high school diploma or GED
  • 1 year preferred

  • Certification Requirements: Must stay up to date with required Epic upgrade training when necessary

  • Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
    • Computer proficiency and technical aptitude with the ability to utilize one or more of the following:
      Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Microsoft Outlook, Meditech (if applicable to position), Epic (if applicable to position), Performance Manager/Net Learning, Right Fax
    • Must be able to read, write, speak English effectively.
    • Must be able to work independently and possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
    • Must possess the ability to effectively communicate and deal tactfully with other personnel, visitors, patients, physicians, customers, and the general public.
    • Must be flexible, have personal integrity, and the ability to function effectively as a team with other employees.
    • Must be able to follow written and oral instructions.
  • Other Requirements:
    • Medicaid experience is beneficial especially credits.
    • Must have the ability to set priorities and handle multiple projects under deadlines.
    • Must be able to make decisions that may have legal, ethical and financial impact on the organization.
    • Must be able to perform all duties within the department if circumstances warrant such action.
