Patient Care Technician, Healthcare Nursing
Under the supervision of licensed nursing professionals, the Patient Care Technician I, Multitrauma Orthopedic Telemetry, delivers direct patient care, including monitoring vital signs, performing wound care, conducting blood draws and specimen collection, and assisting with activities of daily living. This position facilitates patient admissions, transfers, and discharges, ensures patient safety and comfort, and collaborates effectively with the interdisciplinary healthcare team to execute care plans.
Additional responsibilities encompass managing urinary catheter care, monitoring blood glucose levels, providing orthopedic device care, and promptly responding to patient alarms. The technician maintains a safe clinical environment, ensures patient rooms and supplies are well-organized, accurately documents patient information, and actively contributes to initiatives aimed at optimizing patient outcomes and workflow, all while adhering to established safety protocols and performing other duties as assigned.
Experience
Candidates must hold a high school diploma or equivalent, possess current Maryland state certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA), and maintain Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Although prior experience is not mandatory, previous direct patient care experience within a healthcare setting is preferred. Successful candidates will exhibit strong verbal and written communication skills, demonstrate the ability to foster effective interpersonal relationships and collaborate within a team, and show proficiency in prioritizing tasks and performing effectively under pressure.
Furthermore, candidates should be capable of learning and utilizing computer systems, accurately obtaining and documenting blood glucose results, and competently executing delegated nursing tasks that address the diverse needs of patients.
