Description
This project contributes to the development of the Metrics Hub within the NIST s Trustworthy and Responsible Artificial Intelligence Resource Center (AIRC). The student will assist in collecting and packaging relevant metrics for AI testing, identifying key metadata that support the creation of accessible resources for the AIRC website, benefiting the broader AI community and the public. This project will support the operationalization of the NIST AI Risk Management Framework (AI RMF 1.0) by providing essential metrics for testing, evaluation, verification, and validation (TEVV) of AI systems.
Qualifications- Background in Computer Science, Statistics, HCI, or related field
- Education level: graduate student
- Familiarity with concepts related to testing, evaluation, verification, and validation (TEVV) of AI systems
- Strong interest in metrics for AI systems
- Familiarity with scientific reading and technical writing
- Identify and collect relevant metrics for AI TEVV, aligning with the AI RMF 1.0
- Curate the collected metrics, ensuring they are packaged, accessible and usable for the users of the AIRC website
- Help design relevant use cases that contextualize metrics for the broader AI community
- Collaborate effectively with cross-functional and interdisciplinary stakeholders to ensure successful project outcomes
- A set of AI metrics identified, packaged, and made available through the AIRC Metrics Hub. Estimating 2-5 metrics per month
- Draft document outlining at least one use case per metric that illustrates the practical application in AI testing
