Principal AI Engineer at DPR Construction

Responsibilities- Lead the design of AI/ML infrastructure, platforms, and services, ensuring reliability, performance, and scalability.
- Own the entire lifecycle of AI projects: prompt engineering, workflow design, model deployment, and A/B testing.
- Mentor and guide teams, maintain a high technical bar, and partner with senior engineers to align solutions with business needs.
- Write code in Python, build APIs and microservices, and integrate AI/ML models into existing systems.
- Stay current with evolving AI technologies such as LLMs and agentic AI patterns.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams (product managers, business users, security teams) to deliver AI‑powered products.
- Apply strong analytical and problem‑solving skills to complex technical challenges.
- Assist in developing and executing comprehensive plans to integrate AI into business processes, enhancing operational efficiency and productivity.
- Ensure scalability, reliability, and security of AI solutions through best practices for AI model development, deployment, and maintenance.
- At least 3 years of experience in software development and machine learning.
- At least 2 years of experience in generative AI, specifically with large language models (LLMs).
- Excellent knowledge of ML algorithms, deep learning frameworks (e.g., Tensor Flow, PyTorch), and statistical methods.
- Experience with generative AI concepts such as Retrieval‑Augmented Generation (RAG), agentic workflows, and training LLMs with structured and unstructured datasets.
- Experience with data connectors and API gateways for seamless system communication.
- Deep subject‑matter expertise in AI technologies, including Copilot Studio, OpenAI, Semantic Kernels, Azure AI Foundry, Google Gemini, Microsoft 365, M365 Copilot, Anthropic, AWS platforms.
- Familiarity with cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP) and MLOps tools.
- Strong programming skills in Python and experience with AI/ML frameworks.
- Proficiency in vector databases and embedding models for retrieval tasks.
- Understanding of knowledge graphs is a plus.
- Strong problem‑solving and strategic thinking abilities.
