Director, Value Realization
Reporting to the Chief Transformation Officer, this role builds and leads the value tracking discipline for Ciena's enterprise transformation portfolio. The role demands executive presence, financial acumen, and the ability to influence across the organization.
Key Outputs- Enterprise Value Realization Framework established — a standard, auditable methodology for defining, baselining, forecasting, tracking, and sustaining benefits integrated into governance.
- Single Source of Truth for Benefits — a portfolio‑level dashboard and data model providing scenario views for decision forums.
- Transparent executive reporting & decision velocity — leadership‑ready materials that drive timely decisions.
- Sustainment mechanisms — post‑implementation reviews and hold‑the‑gains plans to institutionalize continuous improvement.
- Co‑create value hypotheses with business sponsors; translate intent into quantified KPIs, OKRs, and financial models.
- Establish baselines, counterfactuals, guardrails; document logic and data lineage for auditability.
- Build benefits register and portfolio dashboard; automate pipelines from ERP/BI systems.
- Produce concise executive materials; highlight dependencies, risks, and mitigation options.
- Embed value checkpoints in tollgates; define entry/exit criteria and evidence required.
- Partner with senior program director to enforce accountability for value milestones; integrate into prioritization.
- Lead post-implementation reviews and benefit verification; hold leaders accountable for execution.
- Collaborate with change management to build behaviors and incentives that enable value realization.
- Ensure activities align transformation initiatives to corporate strategy, validate benefits support pillars.
- Provide insights to leadership on realized value advancement of strategic outcomes.
- Define success criteria for co‑sourced delivery partners; operate with joint governance and transparent reporting.
- Significant experience in value realization, portfolio/program management, finance, strategy, or transformation within global enterprises.
- Track record converting initiatives into measurable outcomes and sustaining benefits post‑go‑live.
- Advanced financial modeling and business case development; comfort with scenario analysis and trade‑off framing.
- Strong data orientation and expertise in using data to drive decisions; ability to define metrics, ensure data quality, and partner with analytics/IT.
- Executive communication skills; succinct storytelling in high‑impact materials.
- Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or relevant advanced degree preferred.
- Certifications such as PfMP, PgMP, PMP, Lean/Six Sigma, CIMA/CPA are a plus.
- Travel domestically and internationally as needed.
Pay ranges accommodate variations in knowledge, skills, experience, and market conditions. Non‑Sales employees may be eligible for a discretionary incentive bonus;
