We are seeking a Building Operations Manager who will be responsible for the day‑to‑day operations of and facilities support to designated critical facilities. This person is the primary liaison for the Point of Contact (POC)’s for the designated critical facilities and lead coordinator with Johns Hopkins Facilities & Real Estate (JHFRE) for all facility needs including service requests; facility support services (custodial and ground maintenance);
facility maintenance (planning, scheduling and execution); facilities improvements and event support. This individual will follow any designated work processes established for the designated critical facilities and will provide recommendations and will coordinate changes to the process as needed.
- Ensures all spaces within the designated critical facilities are fully functional including overseeing maintenance, cleaning, and facility upgrades.
- Serves as liaison to JHFRE and Public Safety. Maintains the operability, readiness, security and appearance of critical facilities.
- Meets regularly with POCs for the critical facilities to address building concerns, schedule work, discuss upcoming projects and inform them of anything that may affect them.
- Works with JHFRE Facility Operations to ensure entrance way, common area, and lobby maintain a professional appearance.
- Coordinates with occupants and JHFRE for all service requests as well as facility improvements.
- Helps develop and direct Building Emergency Action plans and evacuation procedures.
- Maintains contact list for POC’s of the designated critical facilities.
- Coordinates and oversees support for events in the critical facilities.
- Coordinates an escort and/or accompanies vendors/contractors throughout the critical facilities.
- Attends scheduled meetings with vendors/contractors and facilitates introductions with JHFRE and affected individuals/groups.
- Assist with scheduling and coordinate office moves.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Must be computer literate and able to learn new software quickly.
- Must be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, employees and a diverse group of University customers.
- Prior experience in an academic setting and a college and/or Property Management is preferred.
- Knows the policies, procedures, and practices necessary to conduct the normal function of a specific section, unit, or work area. Is aware of the role of the position and its potential impact on the University.
- Carries out duties and responsibilities with limited supervision. Makes decisions and establishes work priorities on essentially procedure-oriented operations.
- Does not direct the activities of staff.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, and the ability to focus on problem resolution and crisis management.
- Possesses strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to comprehend and expend verbal and written directions.
- High School Diploma or general education equivalent. Additional education can substitute for some required years of experience, to the extent permitted by the JHU Equivalency Formula.
- Seven years of related experience in facility/building operations and customer service.
- Ability to do considerable walking and prolonged standing for entire shift.
- Ability to bend, squat, stoop, reach, and climb stairs.
- Lifting requirements of 50lbs maximum.
- Stamina for being exposed to various weather conditions (rain, snow, heat, etc.).
