Baltimore’s Promise is seeking a Director of Data Partnerships to lead critical functions and projects within in our backbone organization. Baltimore's Promise is a city-wide collaborative, composed of public, business, higher education, nonprofit, and philanthropic leaders. We serve as a catalyst for organizing efforts and resources around a shared vision: all Baltimore City youth will travel a safe, healthy, and successful educational path from cradle to career.

The Baltimore's Promise collaborative has chosen to initially focus on six broad goals. A work group composed of local experts supports each goal. The six goals are as follows:

  • Every youth will be born healthy
  • Every youth will enter kindergarten ready to succeed in school
  • Every youth will achieve at grade level in school
  • Every youth will graduate high school, prepared for the next step without remediation
  • Every youth will earn quality, post-secondary credential or receive training, and are career ready; and
  • In addition, Baltimore’s Promise will ensure a robust data analysis and evaluation effort will be wrapped around each of these goals.

As our work progresses, and in response to the needs of our community, we expect these goals to evolve and expand over time.

To achieve these goals, Baltimore’s Promise is seeking a Director of Data Partnerships. The Director of Data Partnerships will manage and coordinate with data partners who will implement the collection, interpretation, and clear dissemination of data to support the organization’s activities in improving youth outcomes using a racial equity approach. This position will also be responsible for engaging our stakeholder network around data relevant to the wellbeing of Baltimore City youth and young adults in creative and action-oriented ways.

He or she will report to Julia Baez, Executive Director of Baltimore’s Promise.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead the following data initiatives on behalf of Baltimore’s Promise:
    • Development of a citywide, cradle-to-career Integrated Data System;
    • Development of an externally-facing, user friendly, interactive data dashboard linked to public data sets and the integrated data system;
    • Build and maintain relationships with other data stakeholders in Baltimore City; and
    • Recruitment to and facilitation of the Baltimore’s Promise Data Workgroup.
    • Lead the project management and implementation of data communication products, including but not limited to the following:
      • Annual Report to the Community, featuring the latest data related to key indicators Baltimore’s Promise is tracking and data stories aimed to provide engaging and human context behind data points relevant to Baltimore’s Promises work;
      • Individual issue data stories outside of the Annual Report to the Community; and
      • Data visualizations and infographics.
