Job Overview

Grace is seeking an Operations Supervisor for our Advanced Refining Technologies plant at the Curtis Bay site in Baltimore, MD. Reporting directly to the Operations Manager, the Operations Supervisor leads a team and ensures safe and efficient operation of assets, equipment, and processes.

Schedule

12-hour rotating shifts, including days, nights, holidays, and weekends.

  • Week 1: 4 consecutive night shifts, then 3 days off
  • Week 2: 3 regular day shifts, 1 day off, then 3 night shifts
  • Week 3: 3 days off, then 4 consecutive day shifts
Responsibilities
  • Supervises employees in the specialty chemicals manufacturing plant
  • Assures regulatory compliance, including environmental and process safety, and champions a safe workplace for all employees. Addresses hazards, deviations, and injuries in a timely manner.
  • Directs response to emergency situations, including emergency shutdown procedures.
  • Interfaces with others in the organization to ensure customer deadlines are met.
  • Directs workers in adjusting equipment and processes to correct products which fail to meet quality standards.
  • Coaches, counsels and disciplines employees, addresses complaints and resolves conflicts.
  • Interprets various sets of data and determines how to resolve or troubleshoot complex equipment or systems.
  • Maintains housekeeping standards by performing requisite audits.
  • Analyzes and resolves production issues, enforces labor relations policies, and resolves grievances.
Physical Requirements and Environment
  • Must be willing to wear PPE including but not limited to hard hat, protective eyewear, steel‑toed boots, hearing protection, Level A suit, full‑face respirator.
  • Must be able to stand, walk, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and climb stairs and ladders over 100 ft.
  • Ability to work in a high‑hazard environment, including adverse weather conditions, elevated spaces, confined spaces, extreme temperatures, and noisy surroundings.
  • Ability to follow safety protocols and standards while working in a pilot plant facility with highly hazardous materials.
Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 5+ years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing setting
  • Must be able to work 12‑hour shifts, including both day and night
Preferred Qualifications
  • Demonstrated leadership ability to direct and motivate employees
  • Demonstrated ability to act in a safe manner and teach employees on safety standards
  • Proficient in MS Office
