Johns Hopkins University Communications Specialist in Baltimore, Maryland

The SENSE Network, an international Network supporting research on the role of sensory functioning on health and aging, is seeking a Communications Specialist for the role of promoting the work and interactions of the network. This position reports to the Academic Program Administrator in conjunction with the Associate Director for Academic Training, and works closely with the administrative core.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive social media strategy to build and grow the social media presence for the SENSE Network from the ground up.
  • Create accessible brand guidelines to ensure consistency across all communication channels.
  • Establish strategic vision for communications of the SENSE Network, capture, track, and report performance metrics.
  • Create engaging, on-brand content across multiple social media platforms (e.g., Instagram, Linked In, etc.) that resonates with the target audience.
  • Manage day-to-day social media activity, including posting, commenting, and engaging with followers to foster a positive online community.
  • Develop, organize, and maintain digital asset file database (photos, videos, infographics, illustrations).
  • Collaborate with the SENSE Network Cores to understand key messaging and objectives.
  • Collaborate with CTL to create engaging and informative course materials, promotional content, and course launch communications across various platforms.
  • Develop and execute a communication strategy for the global conference, including pre-event promotion, speaker announcements, attendee engagement, and post-event follow-up across social media, email, and other channels.
  • Special Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Competency with software programs as part of daily activities using Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Experience in managing activities and project deliverables.
  • Experience in social media communication.
  • Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, One Drive, Teams).
  • Enthusiastic about learning and/or experience working with innovative OTS software as part of developing infographics, reports, and videos (e.g., Canva, Sway, Adobe Creative Suite).
  • Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in related field.
  • Two years related experience.
  • Additional education may substitute for required experience, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.

    Starting Salary Range: $46,200 - $80,800 Annually ($63,500 targeted; Commensurate w/exp.)

    Employee group: Full Time

    Schedule: Monday to Friday: 9:00am – 5:00pm

    FLSA Status: Exempt

    Location: Hybrid:
    On-site 1-2 days a week

    Personnel area: School of Public Health

    The listed salary range represents the minimum and maximum Johns Hopkins University offers for this position, based on a good faith estimate at the time of posting. Actual compensation will vary depending on factors such as location, skills, experience, market conditions, education, and internal equity. Not all candidates will qualify for the highest salary in the range.
