Senior Pastor

First Baptist Church of Vernon is prayerfully seeking a full‑time pastor to provide spiritual leadership for the church and its ministries. We adhere to the Baptist Faith and Message 2000 and consider ourselves a traditional congregation. The ideal candidate will guide the church in accordance with God’s Word, our church’s mission and goals, and the bylaws of First Baptist Church, Vernon.

The Church is blessed with a large auditorium, Sunday School facilities, nursery and playground, Fellowship Hall, and Parlor. Property includes a full gymnasium, racquetball court, kitchen and up‑to‑date youth facilities. Also, included is the North Star building which facilitates Sunday School classroom/all‑purpose facility.

Currently we have 550 active church members and have an average of 175 people attending Sunday School (average for 2025).

First Baptist Church of Warren, Texas, is seeking a pastor who can spiritually and physically guide us to fulfill God’s plan for our congregation and community. First Baptist Church serves not only Warren but also the surrounding communities of Wildwood, Ivanhoe, Lake Hyatt, Hillister, and Fred. Through family meals, youth programs, and service projects, we strive to be a beacon of hope and unity.

• Lead the church in fulfilling the Great Commission and the Baptist Faith & Message.
• Supervise the staff, evaluate their work, and administer the program of the church.
• Develop and recommend strategic goals and actions that address the needs of the church and community, and develop a budget to meet those needs.
• Visit and counsel church members to provide encouragement and support during times of special need.
• Motivate lay leaders to achieve church goals and promote effective ministry.

• Committed follower of Jesus Christ whose life bears testimony of divine calling and gifts for ministry.
• Gift of preaching and persuasive communicator of the Gospel.
• Effective witness of Jesus Christ with leadership in evangelism, outreach, mission education, and mission projects.
• Warm, friendly, and approachable; able to relate to all age groups and minister to every person in the congregation.
• Family man with an inclusive spirit and a proponent of the historic Baptist distinctive.
