Seeking an experienced QA Analyst with NASA or aerospace experience for a 9–12 month contract based in Baltimore, MD. Candidates must reside in Maryland and be able to work onsite 3 days per week.
Due to federal regulations (ITAR/EAR), candidates must be U.S. citizens, U.S. permanent residents.
Duties and Responsibilities- Lead quality assurance processes, procedures, and audits to ensure deliverables meet established standards.
- Participate in design, code, and test reviews; witness testing; and provide audit assessments through formal audit reports, including nonconformance tracking and reporting.
- Recommend and support the implementation of corrective actions.
- Review software technical documentation and help ensure overall system safety and security.
- Evaluate the Quality Assurance Plan to confirm alignment with NASA QA best-practice standards.
- Collect, analyze, and summarize QA/quality control data, preparing and presenting trend reports.
- Execute QA activities—document reviews, meetings, and test reviews—in accordance with QA Plans and in coordination with Project Managers.
- Conduct independent audits, assessments, and evaluations to verify compliance with established standards.
- Identify and communicate project risks promptly.
- Document and track findings to closure, escalating unresolved issues to the appropriate management levels.
- Independently identify process gaps or issues in development, testing, or related areas, and develop plans to investigate and address them.
- Identify, prioritize, and drive the resolution of issues across the project.
- Review software documentation as assigned by mission offices or team leads.
- Interface with NASA development, integration and test, and operations teams, as well as international partners.
- Provide input, support, and guidance to a small QA team.
Job Requirements
- 5+ years quality assurance experience in a software environment.
- Planning, preparing, conducting, reporting and following up on audits or assessments.
- Experience executing quality assurance best practices and methods as it relates to system and/or software development.
- Background in software and system development.
- Analytic, problem solving and decision-making skills.
- Communicates effectively both orally and in writing.
- Bachelor degree in related field.
- Quality Assurance certification(s) (e.g. CSQE, CQA).
- Knowledge of NASA safety and mission assurance practices.
- Strongly Preferred:
Familiarity with software development in the aerospace industry.
