Job Summary

The Estimator’s primary mission is to demonstrate to the prospective client, using the sales process, that the services offered by Fick Bros are a better value than those offered by our competition.

The Salesperson should be in good health with a positive mental attitude. In addition to sales skills, the Salesperson is expected to develop a comprehensive knowledge about the products being sold.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop Goals and Plans – set and achieve personal and professional goals; track achievement and implement plans to meet or exceed agreed monthly sales targets and submit activity reports.
  • Time Management – maintain a Time Management Planner and establish daily priorities.
  • Dress Code – maintain a professional image, including grooming, appropriate clothes, work shoes, and company hats.
    • Company logo shirts, jackets, clean work-pants, and proper footwear must be worn.
  • Working Hours – attend training and meetings on time; conduct sales calls during the day, early mornings, evenings, and Saturdays as required.
  • Training – attend company meetings & training; maintain a personal Continuing Education program (audio tapes, literature, seminars) and apply learning to sales techniques, product knowledge, and personal development.
  • Knowledge – continuously learn and apply new technical information, product knowledge, trends, and the Fick Bros estimating & sales system.
  • Practice – participate in role‑playing of sales calls, product presentations, and closing with other sales personnel.
  • Attitude – develop and maintain a positive attitude.
  • Leads – handle company‑supplied leads; return calls within 12 hours, set measure‑call appointments, ask project status questions, and show excitement without over‑qualifying.
  • Lead Development – perform consistent lead‑development activities, maintain self‑developed leads, and ensure a continual flow of appointments.
  • Measure Call – professionally handle measure calls, establish trust, set a qualified sales call appointment, and perform field training as directed.
  • Proposal Preparation – create professional proposals that address the client’s needs and outperform competition.
  • Computer Estimate/Proposal Program – learn and master the Fick Bros computer estimate/proposal system and stay current with upgrades.
  • Sales Preparation – pre‑plan sales strategies, review prospects, anticipate objections, and role‑play responses prior to presentations.
  • Sales Presentations – conduct a professional sales presentation using the Fick Bros procedures and sales process, including bonding, review of problems, product education, demonstration, objection handling, and closing with the Sales Cost Savings Plan.
  • Debriefing – discuss each new measure call and sales call with the Sales Manager or Mentor to review strategy and outcomes.
  • Sales Equipment & Materials – maintain professional appearance of all sales paraphernalia and role‑play tool usage.
  • Samples – keep assigned samples and tools in professional condition.
  • Vehicle – maintain company vehicle neat and clean.
  • Project Folders – prepare project folders, turn into Sales Administrator within 3 days of proposal signing.
  • Reports – provide required reports to management.
  • Reporting – report sales activity daily and provide lead reports to Head Office.
  • Sales Benchmarks – achieve minimum sales benchmarks (volume, measure calls, proposals, lead conversion).
  • Field Relations – inspect projects as needed and coordinate with Sales Manager for significant issues.
  • Commissions and Bonuses – adhere to commission structures, advance schedules, and bonus eligibility guidelines.
  • Sales Integrity and Trustworthiness – act professionally 24/7, maintain company reputation, and avoid offering contracting services on the side.
