The Security Officer I is responsible for the safety and security of all patients, employees, contractors, trainees, vendors, and visitors utilizing Institute facilities. The incumbent will complete regular security rounds, check for and verify proper identification, sign‑in/out individuals, provide escort services, control building ingress and egress, write reports, ensure adherence and compliance of Institute policies, and promptly respond to disturbances while on duty.

Monday‑Friday 2:30pm‑7pm.

Targeted starting salary/hourly rate: $17/h increasing to $19/hour after one year.

• Provide safety and security of all patients, employees, contractors, trainees, vendors, and visitors utilizing Institute’s methods, protocol, policy, and procedure.
• Check for Kennedy Krieger Institute issued identification () badges and complete sign‑in/out process for all patients, employees, contractors, trainees, vendors, and visitors without Institute issued s.
• Ensure enforcement and demonstrate compliance of all security related policies/procedures.
• Inspect packages carried out/entering buildings by patients, employees, contractors, trainees, vendors, or visitors to ensure proper pass/authorization for removal and keep out contraband.
• Arm/disarm alarm systems and monitor Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) systems.
• Assist with investigations.
• Document and report all suspicious activity and prepare detailed reports as needed (Daily/monthly Activity Report, Security Incident Report, Injury Reports).
• Ensure that assigned work environments are properly maintained and clean. Report safety/security issues, property defects, fire hazards, theft, and vandalism to appropriate authority in a timely fashion.
• Assist with training new/less experienced security officers and contract staff.

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required.
• One (1) year of previous security work experience preferred.
• Minimum pay range: USD $32,423.04 per year.
• Maximum pay range: USD $50,596.42 per year.
