Job SummaryThe Life Bridge Health Special Police Canine Officer will utilize a canine animal in the performance of his/her duties to provide a secure environment for patient care functions of the assigned Life Bridge Hospital/campus by protecting patients, visitors and staff through the patrol of buildings, property and grounds. The Officer will respond to, evaluate, and assist with mitigating any security related issues.
Provide a positive proactive and patient centered Patrol k-9 function with cross‑training in explosives and firearms detection. Enforces Maryland State and local laws and ordinances, as allowed by law. May also direct and control traffic on public highways and roads in the immediate vicinity of the property. Also enforces Life Bridge Health Safety and Security policies and procedures during assigned shifts.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience (hospital security preferred); 3+ years preferred.
- Must have previously held a Special Police Officer Commission through the State of Maryland or successfully completed a Federal, State, or Local Police Academy recognized by the Maryland Police Training Commission.
- Associate's Degree preferred.
- Ability to obtain a Special Police Officer commission in Maryland is required within three months of employment and must be maintained to maintain employment.
- Employment is conditional on obtaining and maintaining:
- Maryland State Police Guard, CPR and Fit Testing Law Enforcement Officers' Safety Act (LEOSA) certification preferred. Ability to obtain and maintain a Maryland Handgun permit is required.
- Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record that will comply with Life Bridge Health Fleet Safety driving record criteria.
