Position Overview
- Performs maintenance, installation and repair work on refrigeration systems, equipment and components. This work is performed under general supervision and using the tools and techniques of refrigeration technology.
- The Johns Hopkins Hospital, Facilities Department located in Baltimore, MD.
- 3:00PM – 11:30PM.
- Commensurate with experience.

Responsibilities
Authority / Decision-Making:
- Makes decisions based on trade practices and supervisor direction as appropriate for the scope of this position.
- Recommends and participates in departmental HVACR operations development, improvement, and implementation as it relates to current/anticipated workload.
- Trains peer and lower level positions as directed by supervisor.
- Identifies, analyzes, diagnoses and resolves routine refrigeration equipment problems and component conditions.
- Reads and interprets schematic and construction drawings, service manuals and other technical documents.
- Follows instructions provided by blueprints, drawings, written materials, work orders and oral instruction.
- Communicates (written and oral) with supervisor and departmental/JHM staff.
- Assimilates JHH/departmental mission, policies and procedures as well as specific job safety aspects.
- Works in shop and mechanical area environments with exposure to dust, heat, cold, noise and fumes.
- Work may be performed outdoors with exposure to extreme temperatures and other weather conditions.
- Gets into/works within confined spaces and in awkward positions.
- Works at heights of up to 30 feet above surface using ladders, lifts and equipment.
- Work requires ability to stand, walk or sit for extended periods of time.
- Work requires ability to load/unload and transport/position tools, equipment and materials & push/pull loaded hand trucks weighing up to 75 pounds. This flexible “weight” condition does not prescribe “lifting” as a mechanism for moving equipment; therefore, it permits the supervisor/employee to determine the methodology and reasonable accommodations for “moving” such weight; otherwise, you must make…
