Position: Operations & Maintenance (O&M) Electrician

Operations & Maintenance (O&M) Electrician

Headquartered in Charlottesville, Virginia, Sun Tribe is one of the fastest growing clean energy companies in the Mid‑Atlantic. The Operations & Maintenance (O&M) Electrician will help ensure the operational success of our generation and energy storage asset portfolio. The role performs solar PV system operations and maintenance, including preventive maintenance, inspections, troubleshooting, diagnosis, and corrective repairs.

The position reports directly to the Director of Operations & Maintenance and requires approximately 15 % office work and 85 % field work.

Responsibilities
  • Foster positive working relationships with all internal and external stakeholders.
  • Provide timely and accurate technical assessments about the condition and operational status of all electrical equipment on site to asset owners.
  • Proactively communicate with all host facility site contacts about site access requirements.
  • Remotely monitor operating assets on a rotating schedule (1 weekend per month).
  • Acknowledge all alerts or other issues identified within the contractually prescribed time period.
  • Diagnose issues, remotely or on site, and communicate information via ticketing platform.
  • Advise the Director of Operations & Maintenance on the National Electric Code (NEC) best practices for safe and effective operation and maintenance of all electrical equipment, control systems, and electrical wiring.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance and inspections on electrical equipment, control systems, and electrical wiring on assigned sites in accordance with contractual obligations.
  • Investigate site outages or other issues, perform on‑site troubleshooting, initiate support tickets with equipment manufacturers as needed, and report all findings in a timely manner.
  • Perform repairs and corrective actions on site as needed.
  • Document all maintenance, repairs, and inspections via written service reports.
  • Facilitate warranty equipment replacements, including receiving replacement equipment, facilitating returns, and filing reimbursement claims.
  • Assist with the organization and maintenance of spare parts and equipment.
  • Instill and adhere to the organization’s safety culture.
Skills and Experience Basic Qualifications Required
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Licensed Electrician in the State of Maryland or equivalent.
  • Minimum three years of commercial electrical experience including repair, installation, and maintenance of 480 V or MV electrical equipment, control systems, and electrical wiring.
  • General understanding of physical, electrical, and structural construction plans.
  • Self‑motivated, honest, reliable, and conscientious.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Strong planning, organization, and prioritization skills.
  • Valid driver’s license.
Preferred
  • Experience with the NEC as it pertains to solar PV systems.
  • Strong computer skills.
  • >

    NABCEP Installation Professional and/or Technical Sales Certification.
Working Conditions
  • Some evening and weekend work is required.
  • Must be on‑call to address delays, emergencies, bad weather, and other issues at the jobsite.
  • Requires approximately 15 % office work and 85 % field work (day travel).
Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to traverse and inspect all areas of the jobsite in all types of weather; this may include walking, climbing, reaching, bending, crawling, or stretching.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.
  • Require travel to worksites and projects as needed.
  • Exposure to characteristic construction site dangers.
Salary and Benefits

This position is considered Full‑Time Hourly, Nonexempt under federal and state wage and hour laws, which means you will be eligible for overtime pay for hours worked in excess of 40 in a given workweek.
