The Maintenance Electrician II performs journeyman-level skilled electrical installation, maintenance and repair work, and provides training and work direction as assigned. The primarily focus of the Maintenance Electrician II is on performing preventative maintenance in our buildings, tasked with duties like modifying circuitry, replacing breakers, and updating faulty wiring. This position requires high-level problem-solving skills, extensive experience working with industrial electrical systems, and good communication skills.

Familiarity with NEC requirements for the safe installation of wiring and equipment is essential.

Essential Functions
  • Inspects, repairs, installs, services and maintains electrical systems including cables and conduit, light and power circuits, transformers, motors, fire alarm systems, bell, buzzer, clocks and fans
  • Installs additional electrical load and circuitry to expand existing systems.
  • Installs or replaces necessary interior and exterior wiring for equipment, appliances and lighting.
  • Installs, maintains and repairs electrical lighting and power systems; replaces fuses; repairs power machinery and equipment; sets and adjusts clocks.
  • Estimates and orders materials and supplies required for installation, maintenance and repair activities.
  • Observes and complies with Federal, State and local electrical codes.
  • Reads blueprints, specifications and schematic drawings to install and repair interior and exterior lighting systems and electrical fixtures, including receptacles, switches, doorbells and buzzers, alarm systems, thermostats, ballasts, circuit breakers and panels, irrigation systems, time clocks, motors, generator, transformers and computer terminals.
  • Diagnoses and resolves difficult electrical problems; tests electrical systems and equipment and determines repair needs.
  • Climbs ladders to access roof tops to perform related work tasks and electrically related ceiling tile replacement
  • Establishes and implements prudent safety policies and procedures; observes safety of others and recommends precautionary action, if necessary, while repairs are in progress.
  • Trains and provides work direction and assistance to other maintenance personnel, as assigned.
  • Provide suggestions on the lifespan of equipment and other electrical components, advising when certain components should be replaced due to potential risks.
  • Ensure all routine maintenance work is handled on a regular schedule to reduce the risk of larger and more complex issues and to reduce costs
  • Operates a variety of equipment and machines including testing instruments, drills, saws and other hand and power tools.
  • Maintain routine records and use CMMS (School Dude) to complete assigned work orders
  • Provides assistance to other maintenance trades projects as assigned or as necessary.
  • Communicate effectively with others
  • Performs other related tasks and assumes responsibilities as may be assigned by proper authority

Maximum Salary 42.79

Minimum Salary 27.89

Desired Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED certificate
  • Associate degree or technical apprenticeship preferred
  • Journeyman or Master Electrician license
  • Familiarity with PLC programming
  • Knowledge of NEC requirements
  • Any combination equivalent to: sufficient training and experience to demonstrate the knowledge and abilities listed above and 3 year journey-level experience in the electrical trade
