Mobility Coach

The Center for Urban Families (CFUF) is a nationally recognized nonprofit working at the intersection of responsible fatherhood, family stability, and economic mobility. Since 1999, we've empowered individuals and families in Baltimore's most underserved communities to overcome barriers, break the cycle of poverty, and build thriving futures.

Our members (the term we use for those we serve) face complex challenges—many experience housing instability, justice system involvement, and limited access to education and employment opportunities. Through our work, we are committed to advancing equity, strengthening families, and creating pathways to long-term economic success.

Through our All In strategy, CFUF accelerates social and economic opportunity by combining personal accountability, person-centered case management, supportive networks, workforce training, education, and civic engagement. This approach drives lasting impact for individuals, families, and communities.

With a culture rooted in excellence, transparency, and purpose, CFUF fosters a dynamic, mission-driven environment where passionate team members are empowered to make a difference.

As a Mobility Coach at CFUF, you will work across all CFUF programs, including Economic Success, Baltimore Responsible Fatherhood Services, Baltimore 2

Gen, and Baltimore Communities Assisting and Advancing Neighbors (BCAAN). Leveraging All In program philosophies, EMPath's Bridge to Self-Sufficiency, and crisis intervention, our Mobility Coaches provide intensive case management through person-centered goal plan development and barrier removal support to equip CFUF members with the tools necessary to obtain both social and economic mobility.

What to Expect from This Opportunity

  • Provide strength-based case management to a caseload of CFUF members and program participants.
  • Partner with members to set and monitor SMART goals using the EMPath model; update plans regularly to support social and economic mobility.
  • Maintain accurate, real-time case notes, files, and databases in compliance with organizational standards.
  • Participate in case conferencing to collaborate across teams, address barriers, and coordinate member support.
  • Coordinate referrals to internal and external services (e.g., housing, childcare, behavioral health, legal services) and follow up to ensure effective outcomes.
  • Participate in case audits to ensure compliance with agency standards.
  • Assess member progress in training and education programs; recommend supportive services as needed.
  • Provide career readiness and job coaching, including career pathway exploration, resume development, interview preparation, and job search support.
  • Stay informed on workforce trends and labor market data to provide relevant, up-to-date career guidance.
  • Support members in navigating job offers, promotions, and workplace challenges to promote retention.
  • Track job placement outcomes, satisfaction, and performance to inform retention strategies.
  • Support outreach efforts and build community partnerships through engagement and presentations.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in social work or a related field is preferred. The most ideal candidate will possess a master's degree in a study closely related to social work.
  • At least 3+ years of experience working in case management/family support
What Sets You Apart
  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships, establish trust, and engage individuals of diverse educational and socio-economic backgrounds
  • Substantial understanding of CFUF's current interventions: workforce development, responsible fatherhood, family services, and supportive services for disadvantaged individuals
  • Knowledge and experience with service agencies and resources for disadvantaged individuals
