OverviewThe Cost Engineering Team is looking for a Software Engineer II. The engineer is responsible for driving financial visibility, cost efficiency, and long‑term economic sustainability across our cloud infrastructure. We blend engineering, data analysis, and financial insight to ensure that every technical decision upholds availability while preserving cost efficiency.
Responsibilities- With the support of your team’s tech lead and manager, break down larger projects into individual tasks, deliver them in multiple phases, and collaborate with others to ensure timely delivery.
- Support peers and stakeholders in the product development lifecycle by collaborating with product management, design & analytics, participating in ideation, articulating technical constraints, and partnering on decisions that consider risks and trade‑offs.
- Support the operations and availability of your team’s artifacts by creating and monitoring metrics, escalating when needed, and participating in “keep the lights on” & on‑call efforts.
- Contribute to a sense of community on your team by engaging in growth and development activities such as participation in the interview process.
- 1.5+ years of experience as a software engineer.
- Experience designing, developing, and launching backend systems; proficiency in Python or Kotlin.
- Familiar with building blocks of distributed systems and technologies such as AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes.
- Experience building cost visibility via tagging.
- Experience creating cost savings opportunities via cost analysis.
- Ability to translate a simple problem or business scenario into a solution that interacts with multiple software components, writing clear, well‑tested, extensible code.
- Comfortable navigating a large code base, debugging others’ code, and providing feedback through code reviews.
- Ownership of personal growth, proactively seeking feedback from team, manager, stakeholders.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills supporting effective collaboration with global engineering team.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent practical experience.
Pay Grade – L
Equity Grade – 6
Base pay raises based on location, experience, and skills. Example ranges: USA (CA, WA, NY, NJ, CT) $160,000 – $210,000 per year; other US states $142,000 – $192,000 per year.
