Responsibilities- Perform event‑related set‑up and break‑down for athletic and recreation events, including moving gear, post signage, opening/closing restrooms, handling flags and sponsorship banners, cleaning facilities, and inspecting to ensure safety.
- Confer with supervisors to determine athletic field needs and scheduled use; line, mark, grade, and maintain fields, pitching mounds, in‑fields, and equipment such as goal posts, nets, and cages.
- Maintain all fields to meet intercollegiate levels of competition and NCAA policies, guidelines, and rules.
- Operate and maintain outdoor athletic facility equipment such as tractors, bobcats, trucks, John Deere Gators, boom lifts, scissor lifts, and lawn mowers.
- Use scaffolding, ladders, and hand‑power equipment for custodial cleaning, including waxing and polishing gymnasium floors, wrestling mats, trophy cases, and pool decks.
- Transport and set up athletic‑related equipment and supplies (e.g., gym equipment, wrestling mats, pitching machines, batting cages, goals, and field‑marking canisters). Repair, modify, and maintain all athletic equipment, applying paint and labels as required.
- Maintain facility grounds, walkways, fences, and other landscaping surfaces; clean waste receptacles and handle snow and ice removal during winter periods.
- Maintain equipment and work areas, reporting faulty or broken items to supervisors.
- Assist guests, enforce facility rules, policies, and procedures, and process paperwork such as equipment inventory and preventive maintenance records.
- Assist University Police and department staff with securing and unlocking facility spaces, reporting irregularities, and supporting pick‑up/delivery of department deliveries.
- Ensure workplace safety, use safety equipment, and report safety issues.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Directly supervised by the Assistant Director, Facilities Operations.
- Works closely with student‑athletes, coaches, department staff, patrons, and other campus stakeholders.
- Full‑time bargaining‑unit position requiring frequent early morning, evening, and weekend work. Specific dates are determined by a supervisor.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to operate vehicles per applicable laws.
- Ability to operate large, heavy equipment (trucks, field rollers, marking machines, etc.).
- Ability to lift 50 lb. or more at times.
- Team‑player attitude and positive work environment commitment.
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
- One year of related work experience.
- General knowledge of athletics and recreational sports.
