Southwest Sports and Fitness Alliance (SSFA) is seeking a Recreation / Activity Leader (Part-Time) to plan, lead, and supervise recreational and enrichment activities for youth participating in SSFA programs. This role supports safe, structured, and engaging environments that promote physical activity, teamwork, and positive youth development while helping remove barriers to participation for Baltimore youth. The Recreation / Activity Leader plays a hands‑on role in delivering high‑quality programming across school and community sites.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and facilitate recreational activities, practices, games, and events at school and community sites
- Support daily program operations by assisting with schedules, transitions, and on‑site logistics
- Help coordinate transportation logistics and support safe student arrivals and departures
- Communicate professionally with families, school staff, coaches, and volunteers (in person, phone, and email)
- Support coaches with rosters, attendance tracking, and equipment needs
- Assist with registration efforts and help collect required participation forms and documentation
- Monitor participant attendance and support data entry into SSFA systems
- Provide on‑site supervision, behavior support, and real‑time problem‑solving during program hours
- Assist with volunteer coordination and special events as needed
- Report program updates, concerns, and incidents to the Executive Director or designated supervisor, and staff.
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills with attention to detail
- Knowledge of rules and regulations for a variety of sports, games, and recreational activities
- Clear verbal and written communication skills
- Strong interpersonal, leadership, and problem‑solving abilities
- High school diploma or GED required; some college or equivalent experience preferred
- Previous experience leading recreational activities strongly preferred
- Reliable transportation and ability to travel between program sites
- Valid driver’s license preferred
- Ability to lift approximately 20–50 pounds when moving equipment
- Combination of administrative coordination and active, on‑site program support
- Indoor and outdoor environments in both cold and warm weather conditions
- Evening and weekend hours required during peak programming periods
- Active, fast‑paced settings involving youth supervision and physical activity
- Local travel between partner sites within Baltimore (mileage reimbursement may apply)
- Lead logistics that directly expand access to youth programming
- Play a key role in strengthening school and community partnerships
- Build leadership and operations experience in a mission‑driven organization
- Make a tangible impact in underserved Baltimore communities
- $18.00 per hour
