Position: Group Leader (Committee role)

Overview

We are looking for a Group Leader to join our Committee and help us shape our local support and development approach.

Role Summary

The Group Leader is a key volunteer role within a local group, linking closely with MND Association staff and volunteers to drive impact through local leadership.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership of the group and planning of activities:

  • Plan group activities and processes, including committee meetings (virtual or face‑to‑face).
  • Engage with volunteers and communities to plan group development.
  • Support staff with recruitment, induction, development, recognition of volunteers and succession planning.
  • Act as a local ambassador for the MND Association.
  • Adhere to the MND Association’s policies and procedures, including safeguarding.
  • Attend meetings and events; travel expenses covered per policy.

Time Commitment

Flexible, 2 hours every month until 1 January 2028.

Recruitment Process

The role is recruited through Safer Recruitment processes, including a short interview and two references.

Successful applicants will complete a structured induction pathway involving e‑learning modules.

Volunteers receive ongoing local support from their allocated Community Support Coordinator (CSC), who will set up regular check‑in and review sessions for support and development aligned with individual goals.
