Availability Window

Sun: 14:00–23:00;
Thu: 15:00–24:00;
Fri: 15:00–24:00;
Sat: 15:00–24:00.

Our Shift Leader rate of pay starts from £15.59 an hour. Additional payments may also apply depending on location.

Minimum 16 guaranteed hours per week, with options to work as low as 12 hours.

Responsibilities

As a Shift Leader you’ll:

  • Work in a fast‑paced retail environment with a range of products.
  • Take ownership of running duty shifts and coordinating the team to deliver a clean, well‑stocked store that exceeds customer expectations.
  • Assist customers by listening to them and ensuring they leave the store with what they came for.
  • Look for ways to improve service, including coaching colleagues and giving feedback.
  • Guide and support colleagues in‑store, ensuring it remains a safe place to work and shop.
  • Maintain a clear understanding of store performance and assist managers in delivering improvement actions.
  • Lead from the front and set a great example in everything you do.
  • Coordinate the store team to deliver an easy, fuss‑free shopping experience.
  • Support colleagues, ensuring they deliver daily priorities and take regular breaks.
  • Open and close the store, completing duty cover and making right safety decisions.
  • Serve as the go‑to person for day‑to‑day queries when a manager is absent.
  • Keep the store clean, tidy and well‑presented.
  • Support managers with seasonal, community and charity events.
  • Contribute to a positive team atmosphere that is inclusive.
  • Deliver great customer service by listening to guests and putting them first.
  • Keep the team informed on communications, changes and updates.
  • Stay knowledgeable about store performance, looking for improvement opportunities.
  • Coordinate store improvements and remove obstacles to service.
  • Follow health and safety routines and ensure colleagues do the same.
  • Recognise and celebrate outstanding service by colleagues.
  • Be a clear communicator and comfortable with various communication methods.
  • Take the lead and oversee the store in the absence of the manager.
  • Make flexible decisions, handle change, and ensure everything is right for customers and colleagues.
  • Motivate and inspire the team to deliver beyond expectations.
  • Be curious and look for ideas to serve customers, communities and the planet better.

Required:

Must be 18 or over to apply. Must have passed school‑leaver age. Applicants may work in roles such as warehouse, alcohol, bakery, counters or driving.
