Job Description

We are looking for a Senior Composites Design Engineer to support the development, qualification, and production of advanced composite structures within a challenging engineering environment. You will play a key role in designing innovative solutions while supporting testing, analysis, and product improvement activities.

Location: Banbury
On-site Requirement: 3 Days Per Week
Seniority: 10+ Years Experience
Security Clearance: Candidates must be willing and eligible to obtain BPSS clearance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop composite component designs and detailed engineering models.
  • Generate qualification, verification, and test strategies for composite structures.
  • Support material selection, structural analysis, and design justification activities.
  • Review drawings, specifications, and technical requirements for compliance.
  • Lead development and qualification testing activities.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing, quality, and programme teams throughout delivery.

  • Significant experience designing composite structures and components.
  • Strong understanding of composite materials, manufacturing methods, and testing.
  • Experience supporting qualification and certification activities.

Required Skills

  • Significant experience designing and developing composite structures within demanding engineering environments.
  • Strong understanding of composite materials, manufacturing processes, and structural performance considerations.
  • Ability to generate engineering analysis, design substantiation, and technical justification for composite components.
  • Experience planning, supporting, and assessing qualification or development testing activities.
  • Strong understanding of engineering drawings, technical specifications, and compliance requirements.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage confidently with customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.
  • Highly motivated and capable of working independently while supporting wider project objectives.
  • Collaborative approach to working across engineering, manufacturing, quality, and programme teams.
  • Flexible and adaptable mindset within fast-paced development environments.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, or relevant technical military background with equivalent experience.
  • Experience using NX and Teamcenter within product development environments.
  • Knowledge of statistical analysis techniques and engineering data interpretation.
  • Understanding of polymer matrix composites, including resin systems and fibre technologies.
