Job responsibilitiesThe Cherwell Hospital seeks a Pre-Assessment Nurse to deliver expert nursing care and assessment for pre-assessment patients. The role involves providing evidence-based, patient-centered care for a defined caseload. Key duties include conducting assessments, ensuring patient safety, and collaborating with the healthcare team to optimize patient outcomes.
- Work independently and with a team of nurses and healthcare assistants to coordinate patients in their pre-assessment pathway, managing care prior to admission for procedures.
- Support all staff in the Outpatient department, including nursing students and visiting professionals.
- Act as a liaison with the Multi-disciplinary team, contributing to Anesthetic and Complex MDT meetings, escalating complex cases and planning care.
- Use advanced communication skills to guide and support patients and staff regarding admissions and their impact on patients' lives.
- Communicate complex and sensitive information to patients, overcoming barriers to understanding.
- Establish partnerships with patients/carers, often in distressing situations.
- Advocate for patients, ensuring informed consent, privacy, and dignity (NMC).
- Reflect on own performance through supervision/action learning.

- Current NMC registration
- Minimum 6 months paid experience in a Pre-op assessment Nurse role in the last 3 years
- Ability to work effectively in a team and independently
