Edvectus is recruiting Lower Primary English teachers (5-7 year olds) for our client who has been working with the Ministry of Education in Brunei for over 30 years. Their focus is to raise the proficiency and attainment levels of Bruneian students through high impact teaching and learning in classrooms, specialised national support and intervention programmes, and the continuous building of their own and local capacity across primary and secondary schools and sixth form colleges.

To be eligible you must:
1) Hold a degree from a university in Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, United Kingdom, South Africa, USA
2) Hold Qualified Teacher Status/teacher accreditation (PGCE, Bed, DipT etc.) A TEFL cert with degree is not sufficient
3) Have a minimum 3 years of relevant classroom teaching experience post qualification with at least 1 year of experience teaching lower primary (Key stage
1).
4) Be able to drive. Note that the test to obtain a Bruneian driving licence will take place in a manual car
5) Be under 55 years old at the time of arrival in Brunei Darussalam
Applicants should ideally also have at least one year of FULL TIME relevant classroom- teaching experience immediately prior coming to Brunei. Exceptions will be made for teachers completing full time study or those on maternity. Teachers on sabbatical/extended leave should not be out of the classroom for more than 6 months.

Brunei, officially the Nation of Brunei, the Abode of Peace, is a sovereign state located on the north coast of the island of Borneo, in south-east Asia.  Apart from its coastline with the South China Sea, it is surrounded by the state of Sarawak, Malaysia, and it is separated into two parts by Limbang, which is part of Sarawak. Most Bruneians are ethnic Malays following a blend of local Malay cultural attitudes and Islamic values and traditions.  

Brunei is an attractive destination for singles and married teachers with families.  A tax-free country with a high standard of living in a laid-back environment, Brunei offers a very relaxing lifestyle for its people with a relatively constant temperature all year round. There are leisure clubs which offer a wide range of sporting pursuits and many places of cultural interest to visit.

Brunei is a fantastic place to use as a base for further travel around Asia. With cheap flights to Singapore, a major gateway to the rest of Asia, travel can be affordable to further destinations like Thailand, Indonesia, China, and Cambodia.
