Deputy National Director (Deputy Country Director)

The Deputy National Director plays an instrumental role in leading and managing strategic and operational activities to ensure effectiveness and efficiency of all programmes around the country to guarantee high-quality services to children, young people and coworkers according to defined standards. The role involves taking initiatives to assess strengths and challenges of programmes and guiding and supporting Function Heads, Village Directors and Project/Programme Unit Heads to ensure effective and efficient use of resources through robust administrative systems for the sustainability and development of programmes.

Key responsibilities

  • Support the National Director in designing, leading and managing relevant programmes to meet the organisation's aims, goals and objectives, and to ensure that values are intact and policies are adhered to
  • Assess strengths and challenges of programmes and guide and support Function Heads, Village Leaders and Project/Programme Unit Heads to ensure effective and efficient use of resources through robust administrative systems for the sustainability and development of programmes
  • Ensure organisation's compliance such as policies and practices of SOS Children's Villages International and the law of the land
  • Promote conducive environment for children, young people and coworkers through effective implementation of Child and Youth Safeguarding Policy, Code of Conduct, Integrity, Compliance and Legal and other policy level interventions and proper awareness, prevention, reporting and responding mechanisms
  • Support the National Director in building and enhancing professional relationships with funding partners, International Office, government agencies and like-minded organisations

About you

  • Minimum Bachelor's Degree in any discipline;
    Master's Degree preferred
  • Minimum 10 years of relevant experience and minimum 5 years of experience in leadership and/or management position, especially in leading and managing people that includes team building, planning and problem solving to ensure quality services to programme participants
  • Fluency in English, both written and spoken, with the ability to effectively communicate and engage with international stakeholders
  • Willing to travel to project locations as and when needed

SOS Children's Villages Indonesia is a non-governmental and non-profit social organization and a Member Association of the global federation founded in Austria in 1949, operating in Indonesia since 1972, with a mission to ensure that children who have lost parental care receive a loving family and home. The organization operates eight Children's Villages across different cities in Indonesia along with its family strengthening and youth care and development programme.

Children's Villages provide family-based care for children through foster families and dedicated foster caregivers, whereas Family Strengthening Programme supports vulnerable families to enhance their capacity to provide safe, stable, and nurturing environments for their children.

Its objectives are:

To provide specialist care and support for children who lost parental care and at the risk of losing parental care.

To support children, young person and families in need through the establishment of home, social centers, and vocational training centers.

To advocate and promote the rights of children around the world.

To work with international organizations, and promote world-wide understanding and exchange knowledge on child care issues.

To serve as a model of long-term family based care.
