Position Summary

Smith + Howard is expanding its Accounting & Advisory practice in India to support a diverse portfolio of US clients.

We are looking for a hands-on Manager who will lead client engagements, oversee accounting delivery, and mentor a team of accounting professionals. This role combines technical accounting expertise, client relationship management, and team leadership, making it ideal for professionals who enjoy both advisory and operational responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities
Client Engagement & Delivery

Manage multiple US accounting and advisory engagements simultaneously.

Serve as the primary contact for clients on accounting, reporting, and financial matters.

Oversee end-to-end accounting delivery including:

Monthly, quarterly, and annual close

Preparation and review of US GAAP financial statements

Management reporting and variance analysis

Ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance across all deliverables.

Technical Accounting & Advisory

Apply strong knowledge of US GAAP and accounting standards across engagements.

Review complex accounting areas such as:

Revenue recognition (ASC 606)

Accruals and accounting estimates

Intercompany and consolidation accounting

Balance sheet reconciliations

Provide practical accounting guidance and process improvement recommendations to clients.

Team Leadership

Lead and mentor a team of accountants and senior accountants.

Allocate work, set priorities, and manage capacity across client engagements.

Review deliverables and provide coaching to improve quality and efficiency.

Support performance management and professional development within the team.

Stakeholder Management

Communicate effectively with US-based clients, partners, and internal teams.

Present complex accounting concepts in a clear and business-friendly manner.

Collaborate with leadership on delivery planning, staffing, and practice growth.

Process Improvement

Identify opportunities to improve processes, automation, and reporting efficiency.

Contribute to building scalable accounting delivery models for the India practice.

Support development of templates, documentation, and best practices.

Qualifications Required

CA (India) or CPA (US)

8–12 years of experience in accounting or advisory services

Strong expertise in US GAAP

Experience managing multiple client engagements

Prior experience leading or mentoring accounting teams

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Preferred

Experience in a CPA firm or professional services environment

Exposure to outsourced accounting or controller services

Experience working directly with US clients

Familiarity with accounting systems such as Quick Books, Net Suite, or Sage Intacct
