Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
Diagnosis & Treatment:
Diagnose and manage acute/chronic kidney diseases, hypertension, electrolyte imbalances, kidney stones, and diabetic nephropathy.
Dialysis Management:
Oversee hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis, preparing patients for these therapies.
Transplant Care:
Manage pre-transplant evaluations and post-transplant care.
Procedures:
Perform kidney biopsies and interpret lab/imaging results.
Patient Care:
Develop treatment plans, educate patients/families, manage fluid/electrolyte balance, and coordinate care with other providers.
Collaboration:
Work with dietitians, surgeons, internists, and primary care physicians.
Research/Education (Optional):
Participate in clinical trials or teach.
Skill Required
Qualifications & Skills
Education:
Doctor of Medicine (MD/DO), Board Certified/Eligible in Internal Medicine, completion of an accredited Nephrology Fellowship.
Experience:
Proven clinical experience in a nephrology setting.
Skills:
Critical thinking, excellent communication, organization, empathy, leadership, proficiency in dialysis management, complex data interpretation.
Work Environment
Hospitals, outpatient clinics, dialysis centers, academic settings, research facilities, often involving both inpatient rounds and outpatient consultations
