Key Responsibilities:

1. Academic Leadership:

- Lead the academic and administrative functions of the Aerospace Engineering department in alignment with the university’s strategic objectives.
- Oversee the design, development, and periodic revision of undergraduate and postgraduate curricula in Aerospace Engineering and allied areas.
- Foster a culture of academic excellence, research, and innovation among faculty and students.

2. Faculty and Staff Management:

- Mentor and guide faculty members in teaching methodologies, research, and professional development.
- Collaborate with HR in faculty recruitment, onboarding, training, and performance management.
- Ensure regular faculty evaluations and promote continuous professional development initiatives.

3. Research and

Innovation:

- Promote research in core and emerging areas such as Aerodynamics, Propulsion, Avionics, Structures, UAVs, Space Technology, and Advanced Materials.
- Encourage interdisciplinary and industry-sponsored research projects.
- Establish partnerships with research organizations, aerospace industries, and academic institutions for joint research, consultancy, and publications.

4. Student Engagement and Development:

- Oversee student mentoring, academic advising, and academic support systems.
- Promote student participation in design projects, model aircraft competitions, drone challenges, and research activities.
- Coordinate with the Office of Student Support to address academic and personal challenges faced by students.

5. Curriculum and Accreditation:

- Ensure that all programs comply with accreditation standards prescribed by national and international bodies (such as NBA/NAAC or relevant international frameworks).
- Regularly update curricula to reflect advancements in aerospace technologies and industry requirements, ensuring graduates are industry-ready.

6. Budgeting and Resource Allocation:

- Prepare and manage the departmental budget, including allocation for laboratories, simulation facilities, infrastructure, and research equipment.
- Monitor departmental expenditure and ensure optimal utilization of resources.

7. Collaboration and Networking:

- Develop and maintain collaborations with aerospace industries, R&D organizations, and academic partners to strengthen curriculum delivery, internships, and placement opportunities.
- Represent the department in Boards of Studies, academic councils, and university-level committees and events.

8. Continuous Improvement:

- Lead continuous improvement initiatives through regular academic audits, feedback from students, faculty, alumni, and industry experts.
- Stay updated with emerging aerospace technologies and integrate relevant tools, software, and practices into teaching and research activities.
