Role Overview
The Assistant Professor – Visual Effects (VFX) will be responsible for delivering high-quality
education in visual effects production, combining theoretical foundations with hands-on studio
practice. The role focuses on teaching industry-relevant VFX workflows, mentoring students,
contributing to curriculum development, and engaging in research or creative practice within the
field of digital and transmedia production.

Roles and Responsibilities
Teaching & Academic Responsibilities
● Teach undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Visual Effects (VFX), including:
- Compositing and Digital Imaging
- Rotoscopy and Paint
- Match moving and Camera Tracking
- Green Screen / Chroma Keying
- Visual Effects Production Pipeline
- Introduction to FX Simulation (particles, dynamics)
● Deliver studio-based instruction aligned with current industry standards and
workflows.
● Develop and revise course curricula, lesson plans, assignments, and assessment
tools in accordance with university and regulatory guidelines.
● Conduct lectures, practical labs, workshops, critiques, and evaluations.
● Assess student performance through continuous evaluation, projects, presentations, and
examinations.
Student Mentorship & Project Supervision
● Mentor students on VFX shots, showreels, portfolios, and capstone projects.
● Guide students in developing industry-ready skills and professional practices.
● Support student participation in festivals, competitions, exhibitions, and industry
showcases.
● Provide academic advising and career guidance in VFX, animation, and digital media
industries.
Research, Creative Practice & Professional Development
● Engage in research, creative projects, or applied industry work related to VFX and
digital media.
● Publish research papers, creative outputs, or case studies as per university and
UGC/AICTE norms.
● Participate in faculty development programs (FDPs), workshops, seminars, and
conferences.
● Stay updated with evolving tools, technologies, and trends in VFX and virtual production.
Institutional & Administrative Responsibilities
● Contribute to curriculum design, academic planning, and program reviews.
● Participate in departmental committees, academic audits, accreditation processes
(NAAC/NBA), and quality assurance activities.
● Assist in organizing industry interactions, guest lectures, workshops,
masterclasses, and student exhibitions.
● Support university initiatives including admissions, outreach, and academic events as
required.
Required Qualifications
● Master’s degree in Visual Effects, Animation, Digital Media, Design, Fine Arts, or a
related discipline (as per UGC/AICTE norms).
● Strong academic background with specialization in Visual Effects.
● NET / Ph.D. preferred as per regulatory requirements (or as applicable).
Required Skills & Technical Expertise
● Proficiency in industry-standard VFX software such as:
- Nuke / After Effects
- Mocha Pro
- PFTrack / Synth Eyes
- Houdini (basic to intermediate)
- Maya / Blender (for integration workflows)
● Strong understanding of VFX production pipelines and shot-based workflows.
● Knowledge of color management, linear workflow, and rendering integration.
● Ability to teach both conceptual theory and practical execution effectively.

● Industry experience in VFX studios, film, OTT, gaming, or advertising is an advantage.
