The School of Design invites applications for the position of Assistant Professor – Communication Design . The candidate will be responsible for teaching undergraduate and postgraduate design students, mentoring projects, contributing to curriculum development, engaging in research and creative practice, and supporting academic and institutional initiatives.
The ideal candidate should possess strong expertise in visual communication, branding, typography, digital media, user-centered design, design thinking, and emerging communication technologies.
Key Responsibilities
Teaching & Academic Delivery
Deliver lectures, studio sessions, workshops, and tutorials in Communication Design.
Teach subjects such as:
Visual Communication
Typography
Branding and Identity Design
Graphic Design
Publication Design
Information Design
Design Thinking
Digital Media Design
Motion Graphics
User Experience (UX) and User Interface (UI) Design
Develop course plans, lesson plans, assignments, and assessment strategies.
Evaluate student performance and provide constructive feedback.
Student Mentoring
Guide students in academic projects, portfolios, internships, and capstone projects.
Mentor students for design competitions, exhibitions, and industry collaborations.
Support student career development and professional growth.
Research & Creative Practice
Engage in research, publications, funded projects, and creative scholarship.
Participate in conferences, seminars, workshops, and design forums.
Contribute to interdisciplinary research initiatives and innovation projects.
Curriculum Development
Contribute to curriculum design and revision aligned with industry and academic standards.
Introduce emerging trends, technologies, and methodologies in communication design.
Develop industry-oriented learning experiences and practical projects.
Institutional Responsibilities
Participate in accreditation, quality assurance, admissions, examinations, and academic administration.
Build industry partnerships and facilitate internships and live projects.
Support university events, outreach activities, exhibitions, and design showcases.
Qualifications
Essential
Master's Degree in Communication Design, Visual Communication, Graphic Design, Interaction Design, Design Studies, or a related discipline from a recognized institution.
Strong academic record throughout.
