IBDP Design Technology Teacher (with potential MYP Design classes)

Job Purpose
We are seeking an innovative and highly skilled IBDP Design Technology Teacher for a reputed school in Bangalore. The ideal candidate will inspire students through inquiry-based learning, fostering critical thinking, creativity, and real-world problem-solving using the IB Design Cycle. You will be responsible for delivering the IBDP Design Technology curriculum (Standard Level and Higher Level), managing the Design Lab, and guiding students through their Internal Assessments (IA) and Extended Essays (EE).
Key Responsibilities
Instructional Delivery:
Plan and deliver high-quality, engaging lessons in IBDP Design Technology (SL/HL) that align with IB philosophies and the Approaches to Teaching and Learning (ATL) framework.
Inquiry-Based Learning:
Foster a student-centric learning environment emphasizing hands-on modeling, prototyping, and the application of the design cycle (Inquiry, Developing Ideas, Creating the Solution, and Evaluating).
Technology Integration:
Integrate cutting-edge technologies into the curriculum, including Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software, 3D printing, laser cutting, robotics, and traditional workshop tools.
Internal Assessments (IA):
Provide expert guidance and structured feedback for the rigorous IBDP Design Technology Design Project (IA), ensuring compliance with IB academic honesty guidelines and assessment criteria.
Exam Preparation:
Prepare students thoroughly for external IBDP examinations through targeted coursework, mock examinations, and data-driven feedback.
Reporting:
Maintain accurate records of student progress using school management systems. Conduct regular parent-teacher consultations and write comprehensive academic reports.
Design Lab Management & Safety:
Maintain the highest standards of safety in the Design Lab/Workshop. Ensure all machinery, hand tools, and digital fabrication equipment are safely operated and regularly maintained.
Inventory Control:
Manage the procurement and inventory of workshop materials, components, and software licenses required for student projects.
Required Education & Qualifications
Master's/ Bachelor's degree in Design Technology, Industrial Design, Product Design, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
A recognized teaching qualification (B.Ed., PGCE, or equivalent state/national teaching certification).
Minimum of 5 years of teaching experience, with at least 2 years of proven success teaching IBDP Design Technology (SL/HL).
Familiarity with the IB MYP Design framework is a strong advantage.
