A leading K-12 international education provider operating in the IB Diploma Programme (DP) and Cambridge IGCSE sector in India. We are hiring an on-site academic leader to drive excellence in Physics across IB DP and IGCSE programmes.

Title:
Head of Physics (IB DP & IGCSE)
Role & Responsibilities
Lead and manage the Physics department for both IB DP and Cambridge IGCSE—define vision, set curriculum priorities, and ensure alignment across year groups.
Design, implement and refine inquiry-based schemes of work and practical programmes that meet IB & Cambridge learning objectives and practical endorsement requirements.
Oversee assessment strategy: internal moderation, IB Internal Assessment (IA) supervision, standardisation of internal/external exam preparation, and use outcome data to drive interventions.
Develop and mentor teaching staff through observations, CPD, performance reviews and instructional coaching to raise pedagogical quality and student outcomes.
Manage laboratory operations: maintain safety protocols, risk assessments, equipment inventory, procurement and compliance with statutory safety standards.
Collaborate with senior leadership, cross-curricular teams and parents to run enrichment activities (STEM clubs/competitions) and ensure strong communication on student progress.
Skills & Qualifications
Must-Have
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Physics or Education (Physics-specialisation) and recognised teacher qualification.
Proven experience teaching and leading Physics within IB DP and Cambridge IGCSE frameworks.
Deep knowledge of IB DP Internal Assessment and IGCSE practical assessment requirements and marking standards.
Experience in curriculum design, lesson planning and data-driven assessment to improve attainment.
Demonstrable laboratory management experience including risk assessments and health & safety compliance.
Strong track record of mentoring teachers and delivering effective professional development.
Preferred
Experience as an IB/IGCSE examiner, moderator or formal training in IB/ Cambridge assessment practices.
Leadership qualification or training in educational management (e.g., NPQ, MEd leadership module).
Experience implementing STEM enrichment programmes, mentorship for university applications, or lab-based research supervision.
