Position Summary
The Assistant Professor – Computer Science at UNSW Bengaluru is an academic role responsible for contributing to the teaching and service missions of the School and Faculty while developing and delivering high-quality scholarly research and professional activities at national and international levels. The role is primarily in the area of Computer Science and Engineering, with a research focus on Databases and related areas, including Human-centric databases such as crowdsourced and collaborative database systems and Vector databases and high-dimensional databases for scientific discovery.
The Assistant Professor should have strong expertise in Software Engineering, Computing, and Artificial Intelligence, with responsibilities spanning undergraduate teaching, research, scholarly activities, funding applications, and supporting students and colleagues.
The role reports to the Head of School and has no direct reports.
Preference will be given to global/international faculty with teaching experience outside of India.

Teaching and Learning
Contribute to teaching in Computer Science and Engineering at the undergraduate level, including Software Engineering, Software Construction, Web Technologies, Natural Language Processing, Database Systems, and Professional Issues and Ethics in Information Technology.
Demonstrate and continuously develop a well-defined teaching philosophy that inspires student learning.
Conduct classes, assess student learning achievements, and support students in undergraduate courses in line with UNSW policies.
Design and develop learning activities and resources, and provide assessment and feedback using a range of suitable approaches and learning environments.
Initiate the development of innovative approaches to teaching and learning with the support of more senior academics.
Support students’ learning progression through one-to-one consultations and cohort-based course-related advice to achieve positive learning and employability outcomes.
Manage course administration as Course Authority, including academic quality assurance.
