Job Description – Data Governance Lead

Location Pune/Bangalore / Remote

Role Overview

We are seeking a Data Governance Lead to drive the end-to-end implementation of enterprise data governance as part of a modern data platform program. The role is hands-on and delivery-oriented, responsible for operationalizing governance using Microsoft Purview and/or Informatica (Axon, EDC) and embedding governance across platforms such as Databricks and Snowflake.

Key Responsibilities

- Design and implement an enterprise data governance framework, including:
- Data domains, ownership, and stewardship
- Governance workflows and approval processes
- Lead implementation of data catalog and metadata management
- Implement and configure enterprise governance platforms, including:
- Microsoft Purview and/or Informatica Axon / EDC
- Data catalog, metadata ingestion, and business glossary
- End-to-end data lineage and impact analysis
- Data classification and sensitivity tagging
- Integrate governance capabilities with:
- Databricks (Lakehouse)
- Snowflake (Data Warehouse)
- Data lakes, ETL, and analytics platforms
- Enable metadata-driven lineage across ingestion, transformation, and consumption layers
- Define and operationalize data access and usage controls
- Support compliance and audit requirements (GDPR, HIPAA, SOX, etc., as applicable)
- Conduct governance workshops with business and IT stakeholders
- Drive adoption of governance processes and catalog usage

Required Skills & Experience

- 8–12 years of experience in Data, Analytics, or Data Management
- 6+ years of hands-on experience in Data Governance implementation
- Mandatory:
Hands-on implementation experience with at least one enterprise governance platform:
- Microsoft Purview OR
- Informatica Axon / EDC
- Strong experience in:
- Data catalog and metadata management
- Data lineage and impact analysis
- Data classification and sensitivity management
- Experience working with modern data platforms:
- Databricks
- Snowflake
- Strong understanding of cloud or hybrid data architectures

Additional Exposure (Preferred)

- Experience with both Microsoft Purview and Informatica governance tools
- Exposure to other governance platforms (Collibra, Alation)
- Experience in regulated industries (Life Sciences, BFSI, Healthcare, Manufacturing)
- Cloud platform exposure (Azure / AWS / GCP)

We are looking for a Data Governance Developer to support the technical implementation and configuration of data governance capabilities using Microsoft Purview and/or Informatica (Axon / EDC) as part of a data platform delivery program.

Key Responsibilities

- Configure and maintain enterprise data governance platforms, including:
- Microsoft Purview and/or Informatica Axon / EDC
- Data source onboarding and scanning
- Metadata ingestion and management
- Data classification and tagging
- Business glossary configuration
- Data lineage setup and validation
- Enable metadata and lineage integration with:
- Databricks pipelines
- Snowflake data models
- Support onboarding of new data sources into governance tooling
- Troubleshoot metadata, scanning, and lineage issues
- Assist in implementing data access policies and RBAC
- Support UAT, production rollout, and hypercare
- Maintain technical documentation for governance configurations

Required Skills & Experience

- 4–7 years of experience in Data Engineering / Data Management
- Mandatory:
Hands-on experience with Microsoft Purview or Informatica governance tools
- Strong understanding of:
- Data catalog and metadata management
- Data lineage and classification concepts
- Modern data platforms such as Databricks and Snowflake
- Working knowledge of SQL and basic scripting (Python preferred)

Additional Exposure (Preferred)

- Experience with both Purview and Informatica governance stacks
- Exposure to other governance tools (Collibra, Alation)
- Cloud platform experience (Azure / AWS / GCP)
- Understanding of data privacy and compliance concepts
