POSITION
DESCRIPTION:
The Network Engineer is a proactive, hands-on technical professional responsible for ensuring the reliability, performance, and security of Holiday Inn Club Vacations’ on-premises, cloud, and campus-wide network infrastructure. This role owns network monitoring and alerting, oversees Cisco Meraki and voice administration (CUCM), maintains UPS power systems, and provides Tier‑4 support for wired and wireless connectivity. The ideal candidate lives and breathes network operations, embraces continuous improvement, and delivers top‑tier customer service.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND TASKS:
Own network monitoring and observability: design dashboards, tune alerts, and generate trend reports in Datadog (or Solar Winds) so the network team is aware of issues before users are impacted.
Manage day‑to‑day network operations: triage incidents, fulfill service requests, and execute approved changes via the internal ITSM platform.
Configure and support Cisco Meraki infrastructure (MX firewalls, switches, wireless APs), including deployments, upgrades, and hardware replacements.
Administer and troubleshoot Palo Alto next-generation firewalls and Palo Alto Prisma Access for secure remote connectivity.
Collaborate with security teams to enforce network security policies, firewall rules, and compliance standards.
Participate in network architecture planning and suggest optimizations or upgrades.
Administer Cisco Call Manager (CUCM) voice platform — voice administration only (endpoint configuration, firmware updates, issue troubleshooting).
Maintain and monitor APC UPS and PDU systems: track lifecycle, patch firmware, replace batteries, and plan proactive replacements to prevent outages.
Plan and validate power requirements (120/240 V single/three‑phase) and specify correct NEMA connectors and power cords (e.g., C13/C14).
Perform Wi‑Fi surveys and basic RF troubleshooting using Ekahau; optimize Meraki wireless deployments for coverage and performance.
Fabricate and test copper network cables (Cat5e/Cat6) to CompTIA Network+ standards.
Execute scheduled maintenance windows (firmware upgrades, backups) following change‑management procedures.
Provide after‑hours/on‑call support in a rotating schedule for critical outages and urgent issues.
Maintain clean and organized IDF/MDF environments: cable management, dust removal, disposal of old equipment, and general housekeeping.
Deliver excellent customer service: communicate clearly, present professionally, and foster a respectful support experience.
Collaborate with cloud and security teams to support network services in Azure and perform basic traffic diagnostics (port/protocol checks, packet captures).
Document and label all network equipment, cables, and racks according to company standards.
Maintain thorough ticket documentation: detailed troubleshooting notes, resolution steps, and linked knowledge articles.
Create and update basic network diagrams (Visio, Lucidchart) for topology visibility and onboarding.
Meet defined SLAs for ticket acknowledgment and resolution; actively monitor queue and escalate as necessary.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
3+ years of experience in a Network Engineer role, with 5+ years in a network support role.
Hands‑on expertise with Cisco Meraki firewalls, switches, Palo Alto Firewall, Prisma, and wireless solutions.
Experience administering Cisco Call Manager (CUCM) or similar VoIP platforms.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
CompTIA Network+ and Security+
Cisco CCNA, CCNP Enterprise, or Meraki CMNA
Palo Alto Networks or similar firewall certification
Microsoft Azure Fundamentals (AZ‑900)
Note:
Certifications are not required on hire, but are expected to be obtained and maintained. The company covers training and successful exam costs; exam retakes after failed attempts are not reimbursed.
QUALIFICATIONS
Strong proficiency with Datadog, Solar Winds, or comparable network monitoring tools.
Working knowledge of APC UPS systems, power distribution, and NEMA standards.
Ability to specify correct cabling/connectors for power and network gear.
Proficient in Wi‑Fi survey tools (Ekahau) and troubleshooting.
Basic scripting or automation skills (Python, Power Shell) are a plus.
Excellent communication and customer service skills.
Working knowledge of single‑mode and multimode fiber types, optics (SFP/SFP+), and best practices for campus inter‑switch links.
Ability to produce clear network diagrams and documentation using diagramming tools (Visio, Lucidchart, etc.).
In-depth knowledge of TCP/IP, BGP, VLANs, VPNs, NAT, QoS, and wireless technologies.
Understanding of cloud networking concepts (e.g., AWS, Azure, or GCP integrations) is a plus.
Strong organizational and troubleshooting skills
