Role Overview
We are seeking a QA Automation Engineer to own and evolve automation strategy and quality engineering practices for our mortgage lending platform. This role focuses on building scalable automation frameworks, validating complex financial workflows, and improving release confidence across loan origination, underwriting, and servicing systems.
You will partner closely with engineering and Dev Ops teams to embed quality early in the software lifecycle. The ideal candidate brings strong Playwright + JavaScript expertise with a focus on reliability, data accuracy, and continuous improvement within a regulated fintech environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable UI and API automation frameworks using Playwright and JavaScript/Type Script.
- Define and drive automation standards, best practices, and reusable testing architecture.
- Automate end-to-end mortgage workflows including onboarding, document processing, underwriting validations, and lifecycle events.
- Collaborate with engineering and product teams to ensure testable system design and clear acceptance criteria.
- Integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines to enable continuous testing and reliable releases.
- Maintain regression, integration, and API automation suites with optimized execution and stability.
- Improve testability, observability, and reliability through early engineering collaboration.
- Perform defect analysis, root-cause validation, and provide actionable quality metrics.
- Mentor junior engineers and promote an automation-first, shift-left quality culture.
- Act as a quality advocate, continuously improving automation effectiveness across teams.
Required Skills & Experience
- 3–5+ years of experience in UI and API automation testing.
- Strong programming expertise in JavaScript or Type Script.
- Hands-on experience building and maintaining Playwright-based automation frameworks.
- Experience designing maintainable automation architectures (POM, fixtures, reusable utilities).
- Strong REST API testing experience using Playwright, Postman, or similar tools.
- Experience integrating automation into CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, Git Lab CI, Git Hub Actions, etc.).
- Strong debugging, analytical, and root-cause analysis skills.
- Understanding of test strategies across UI, API, and service layers.
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
- Proficiency with Git-based version control systems.
- Strong communication and stakeholder collaboration skills.
Preferred Experience
- Exposure to Mortgage, Lending, or Financial Services platforms.
- Understanding of loan lifecycle concepts such as underwriting, amortization, and compliance validations.
- Experience testing microservices-based or cloud-native applications (GCP/AWS).
- Familiarity with test data management and distributed system integrations.
