Data Engineer – Data Governance

About the Role:

As a Data Engineer on the Data Governance team, you will build and support the pipelines, metadata processes, and automation needed to ensure our data is accurate, discoverable, and trustworthy. You will partner with domain teams to implement data quality checks, support ELT workflows, and strengthen governance practices across the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

Develop, test, and maintain batch/ELT data pipelines using Python and SQL.
Build data transformations in Big Query aligned to governance standards and information models.
Implement data quality checks and validation rules across critical datasets.
Automate profiling, metadata extraction, and schema monitoring workflows.
Contribute to version-controlled repositories (Git) and follow CI/CD practices.
Collaborate with Data Stewards and Analysts to support CDE definitions and issue triage.
Document data flows, lineage, and pipeline logic to support governance processes.

Required Skills:

Proficient in Python for ETL, data processing, and automation.
Strong SQL skills for advanced queries and performance tuning.

Experience with GCP services and Big Query (data modeling, optimization).
Power BI for creating dashboards and DQ reporting.
Hands-on experience developing batch/ELT data pipelines.
Strong communication skills and the ability to work with cross-functional teams.
Familiarity with information models and industry data standards.
Version control using Git.

Nice to Have:

Experience with Monte Carlo (data observability).

Experience with Alation (data catalog, metadata).

Experience with Airflow / Cloud Composer.
Familiarity with CCPA compliance and privacy concepts.
